   What is YOUR assessment of Affirmative Action?  Do you believe that there should be no
   
   Affirmative Action as there are unprecedented educational, housing, & socioeconomic opportunities as never before for Blacks?  Or do you believe that there should always be Affirmative Action as Blacks STILL suffer from racial discrimination in terms of education, housing, & jobs/careers?

   AA didn't work, and neither did busing which puts to burden on the race, more than the environment.
   
   AA is also reverse discrimination because it takes away a job from a qualified person, and gives it to a lesser, and even unqualified person.
   As long as achievement and performance are the criteria for selecting candidates, the cutting in line is not valid.
   
   It is a reflection of our education system that so many people in minority classes fail to achieve satisfactory performance and achievement. Consider that out of the same ghetto comes a criminal as well as a police officer, or congress person.
   
   One has to look to the Blacks themselves to see where They Fail, and compare it to where the system fails everyone. For example, if a classroom of students ALL Fail, and the students are diversified then we have to look as the Teacher, and or the system to see why they failed.
   
   All the immigrants from the last century went through the same public education system, and whether it was bad, or good, they adapted to it, They made it work for them. Many of them had a language barrier as well, while this is not true of the American Blacks.
   
   AA would be the acceptance that our education system is a failure, and one shouldn't rule that out. The education system today in the US is in chaos, and the core concept isn't really working.
   
   To me, the purpose of an education is to get the best job possible to support yourself and your family. Education just to explore knowledge should be done after the primary goal of making a living has been fulfilled.
   
   K-12 should be changed to capture what is now the first two years of college. College for most degrees should be only two years, and it should be focused on the major, while any basic prerequisite should have been completed during high school. This paradigm for education doesn't exist today, but that is my suggestion.
   
   Today, unlike when AA was first introduced last century, media technology didn't exist. Now, today it is being used even by toddlers. Focus should be away from social media, and an educational media should be developed to educate along side the classroom.
   
   There are many more subjects today, and more new information in many of the existing subjects that mean the pace of learning has to be increased. So, if the AA candidate had trouble last century competing with performance and achievement they have a real problem today. But, putting them in a line they don't qualify for is not the answe

   The objective of Affirmative Action was to give underrepresented minorities in America better opportunities in education and the workforce. The end of slavery and legal segregation did not erase the mentality of racism or the lingering effects of years of oppression.  Black Americans, in particular, still struggle to have equal access to quality education and equality opportunities in the work force.  This mentality has led to the debate of how affirmative action demonstrates a philosophical divide that divides people on the idea of how our country should treat its minorities. The debate largely focuses on three issues: how much discrimination and bias still exist, how affirmative action has increased opportunities in education, employment, and business; and how affirmative action disadvantages the white majority. President Lyndon Johnson recognized the effects of hundreds of years of racial discrimination as being the chains that have kept minorities from having equal opportunities in America. Affirmative Action continues to be a necessary policy to erase that discrimination.

      Affirmative Action discriminates against a qualified person by taking their place with a person that is not qualified. Taking someones job, or education that they have earned so that someone that hasn't earned it is not right.
