   My house seems to always have the food network on. No matter how much I watch them though, none live up to my opinion of Gordon Ramsay.
   I mean the man can cook, he has personality, and is pretty handsome for a man his age(almost 20 years my elder).
   I've been a fan of him since before he hit mainstream tv here. I love his common sense attitude, and have you watched him cook? It's almost magical. He makes cooking some of the hardest foods look easy.

      I have seen bits & pieces of several of the shows on the Food Network.  I know who Gordon is and I agree he's handsome (for a man a whole LOT younger than I am!)  DRAT!!

   I think most of them would claim she is not one but I would choose Rachael Ray. She is just so entertaining! I love her easy recipes too.

      Yes, Jackie, even she has announced she's not an Official "chef," but her show is always good & her dishes are fabulous!  That's a chef in my opinion!

      LOL...Oh Keith, you never fail to crack me up.  Although not my type, I have to agree she is quite the Italian Beauty.  I'm sure her show makes you HUNGRY!!....My DIL has her cook book.  My son likes to read it!  LOL

   I don't watch the Food Channel all that much anymore.
   Back when I did I use to watch some Bobby Flay and Paula Deen.
   However my all time favorite was Emeril Lagasse.
   He was sort of a "macho chef" in the kitchen with all his "BAM!" and "kick this up a notch" expressions, talk of "smellovision" along with other verbal antidotes as he cooked away.
   I'm also a big fan of New Orleans style Cajun meals.
   Emeril made cooking seem like it was "fun" because he had fun.
   When I was kid all we had was "The Galloping Gourmet".
   Looking back I think that guy was an alcoholic!
   He drank wine while preparing all of his meals. LOL!

      Emeril is another chef I've heard a lot about & read about as well.  I know he's popular, especially with men.  Now that you explain him as macho, I see why.  OH Gosh....you reminded me of the Galloping Gourmet!! Was it Graham something??

      The TV show ran from 1969 -1971.
      Did you workout with Jack LaLanne too? LOL!

      Jack LaLane OH! LOL!  I can still picture him perfectly, in his matching, pressed shirt & stretch pants w/ the grippies on his feet, inside the ballet slippers & every hair in place with a little BrylCream!! (Because " a little dab"ll do ya!"

   I like Nigel Slater (have you heard of him in the good old USA?).  He presents simple fare in a simple way but it all looks delicious and is always healthy.  It has to be simple for me to be able to cook anything!

      Hi Ann....I have heard of Nigel.  I hear something about all of them from my Daughters-in-law who are all excellent cooks.  When I retired, the first thing I did was hang up my oven mitt & apron.  I wanted to put crime tape around the kitchen!

   I love watching cooking shows, but I think my favorite celebrity chef is Guy Fieri (pronounced Fee-etti). I love his wacky hair, shades worn on the back of his head, tats, and his awesome '67 Camero.
   
   My favorite show of his is Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. He features affordable eateries all over the U.S. that are recommended by locals. What better way to promote local restaurants then responding to everyday food-lovers' experiences! He adds personality to the show and brings the chefs alive on each episode. He seems like a down-to-earth person who loves to share and put others in the spotlight.
   
   It always tickles me when the chefs he highlights make dishes with an egg on top. Anyone who watches the show knows Guy HATES eggs!

   Paula, none of the recent ones are my favorites at all, sad to say.  However, the grand celebrity chefs of old-  the late Julia Child, James Beard, Craig Claiborne, & the still present Jacques Pepin are my favorites.  I have all dvds &/or cookbooks of all mentioned except for Jacques Pepin.

   Jamie Oliver is my favorite chef because he's dedicated to educating people about the importance of food and health and also had Jamie Oliver Food Foundation. I like him since his first show Naked Chef if you can remember... hehe...

    I like Paula. But I just like cooking shows. The contest, cupcake war and the  kids.  There are some really good kid chefs.
