Why are certain States in the Democratic column regardless who is running? NY, CA for example.
This was not the case in years past. Why some States are entrenched in one party or the other?
I remember back in 1984, Ronald Reagan won 49 of 50 States in his second term. Since when we started voting by party line instead of the candidate and his or her policies?
I am from a blue State and no matter what I do at the ballot box, it seems to not matter. I still go to vote since it is the only voice I have.
I am curious why. Is it the local party machine that controls the election cycles and shape the electorate? Why most incumbents are reelected year after year by over 90%?
Because our election process has become so corrupted and confusing over the years it is impossible for the average citizen to understand.
We are told now that it is the delegate's who decided who will be our next President, not the voters. We also know now that some delegate's will accept bribes in one form or another and sell their vote to the highest bidder.
And then we have the Electoral College to manipulate if all else fails.
I truly wish we could just go by popular vote and even with the dead and the illegals voting it would be more honest than our current system.
We waste millions of dollars that could be better spent and at least a year of everyone's life to elect a new President in an election we know has been rigged from the start.
I have lost all faith in our election process and now wonder if my vote has ever really counted for anything at all.
Wouldn't it be great if all of the Primaries were held on the same day?
Wouldn't it be great if States no longer had to carry a red/blue label? Someone belonging to a different party living in a state with the wrong color must feel like a member of a minority class. I can see where the color label on a state could affect a voters thinking so they no longer feel like an outsider.
Our election process has become a mess and needs a total overhaul.
I agree with you. One of the things I proposed to fix our electoral process is to hold all primaries on the same day. Thanks for a detailed and thoughtful response.
My answer is that the loyal party voter as a general rule will not cross party lines. Ca and NY have been democrat controlled forever. They have just gotten stronger over the decades. Or maybe, the loyal party voter has become more loyal?
I grew up in NY and I have lived in CA for decades. It does make me blue in more ways than one. I am sure if the weather here wasn't good, CA would be deserted because the taxes here are high, the state congress is controlled blue. The state really needs to be divided in to two or possibly four states. They don't keep the resources and the services commensurate with the ever increasing population.
The solution is no loyalty to either party. It was We the People now it is We the Party.

The Ds lost their fourth special election. Some say those are Big Wins for Rs and Disaster for Ds. Other optimistic souls say each was a Win for Ds because they were close. While I tend to agree with the last statement, I won't go so far as calling it a win. Instead, I call...

A little background......https://www.yahoo.com/news/americas-pol … 02936.html"More alarming, though, is that some of Trump's fellow Republicans are advocating for GOP-held legislatures to overturn the will of the voters in states — like Michigan and Pennsylvania — where Biden won, and...

Do you believe this pass election was an eye opener for the democratic party ?Do you believe there are hidden agenda in both parties ?

What happened to the Democratic Party we once knew? It seems that over the years, the party has shifted, and not in a way that resonates with the people who once felt truly represented by it. In the past, the Democratic Party prided itself on standing up for working-class Americans, fighting for...
