   Why do RELIGIOUS people ALWAYS SPEAK in CAPITALS? Don't they know that on the net, that's SHOUTING?

   Capitals can indicate shouting, but they can also be used to emphasize the importance of the point being made.  The person may just want to grab your attention, if they cannot change the font or use bold or italics.

   Because if you SHOUT loud enough the only voice (opinion) you will hear is your own.
   
   For many religion is absolute (the word of GOD) and not to be debated on a forum unless it is setup so you can learn from them so they can preach to you and a good olde time preacher shouts to emphasize the parts they want to remember.

      If you've noticed, there appears ALL CAPS in the Bible when speaking of the "LORD!"  Why?  Emphasis on the CREATOR!  You should have as much respect for HIM!

      I respect GOD. I always liked the olde time preachers who used this concept in his sermons. I just don't like it when every third word is capitalized or people who use this to brow beat others.

   I guess I never noticed this because I tend to ignore sentences that are all in Caps.  Sometimes a capital word shows up like, for example, in your question. But like somebody else mentioned is the capital is making a strong point.

      As the Bible when emphasis is placed on the LORD!  Have you noticed that in Scripture?  Why then when "we" address HIM or what HE HAS SAID, do we not placed "emphasis?"  It's the world's definition that CAPS = SHOUTING!

   It is shouting. And the folks that do it consider themselves non-religious but rather believers of a sort. Normally it is done by those who hate man organized religion, like Christianity, but call themselves Christ like or Christ followers.
   If a point is not made or emphasized by the words you use and how you use them, then caps do not help really. It is just shouting. It is akin to using foul language. It shows a frustration with the inability to articulate in the language at hand. Or laziness. Emoji's are kind of the same thing. I like to wink ;-). But there is no issue about whether of not all caps is SHOUTING on the net.

      Worldly response! It's not shouting in the Bible when emphasizing the name of the "LORD" or have you not noticed? So, when addressing HIM or what HE SAID, place emphasis as Bible by capitalizing!
      Christianity is NOT a RELIGION!

      Norine, show me in the Bible where Jesus yelled. Not at the temple with money changers and not at lessons with 5,000. And find me passage where Paul shouted. The Holy Spirit in no way needs to have someone shouting.https://newrepublic.com/article/117

      That's just your preferred edition, Norine. The original texts were written in Hebrew & Greek which don't differentiate capitals from lower-case. In the originals, many names are used for God. 17th C English translators used LORD to simplify matt

   It's true, they all do that. Like they have a private group with a style sheet they all study.
   
   But the all caps let's me know that I'm dealing with a crazy who is unwilling to listen to the words of others. So it's not even worth trying to talk with them.

   Amanda......First & foremost, when individuals use caps (as Lolita has stated) it is not to shout but merely to emphasize.  Everyone has a style in writing just as in speaking.  No one person can make the rules in these situations.  Just because some people chose to make the claim that using caps in printed conversation is "shouting," does not make it so.
   Be who you are and express yourself as you do, whether speaking or writing.  We are all unique, have our own ways of communicating and there simply are no set rules that any of us are forced to follow.
   BTW, it is not only religious people who make use of caps.  Some do, some do not.  In this day and age the sum-all fallacy is about as obsolete as one can get.  What makes our world a wonderful, magical place is all the enormous array of differences.
   So Amanda.......No!  Everyone does not need to believe that using caps on the net is shouting. Why should they, because you say so?
   It means what they intend for it to mean.  Personally, when I choose to scream/shout at someone, I don't write it.....I do it face to face, so there's no doubt in their mind that I say what I mean and mean what I say!.
