   Google Halts Ads on "Fake News" Websites. So, Google is now the "truth" teller. Is this fair?
   
   And the snowflakes in the street are worried about Trump, as Goggle becomes the "truth" teller. A underhanded form of censorship.
   Their opinion of what is "fake" and what is real does not mean anything. It's no different than the liberal, demoncrap supporting news outlets that share news that fits their agenda of socialism.
   Slowly but surely, in everything we read or watch, the propaganda of the left will be all that's available.
   This is not for Google to determine. This a blatant form of censorship that should be fought by any person that loves America.

   They are deciding which media sources are legitimate and illegitimate based on the same biased standards that led to them to filter and censor conservative content on Youtube because it was too controversial.

      They've almost got it locked up where no truth filters through.
      Any way around it, in your opinion? Googles got quite the monopoly on the internet.

   Not promoting news stories that aren't verified or truthful isn't censorship. It's not like Google is taking the news stories off the Internet---they're just saying that stories from bogus news sites, on the right and the left, will no longer move to the top of search results, and that those sites that consistently post fake, misleading stories will not be eligible for ad revenue.
   
   For example:
   
   This week, a site called 70news posted a story that Donald Trump was winning the popular vote count. That news story immediately went viral, and went to the top of results whenever anyone searched for information about the election.
   
   The problem? The site was bogus, and their information wasn't accurate. Thousands of people were tweeting images of their vote count, showing Trump ahead---even though every non-partisan site was showing he wasn't.
   
   I think Google has a responsibility to ensure that when someone searches for information, the very first thing they see isn't fake. Perhaps, by limiting ad revenue to sites that are posting faux news, they will cut down on the number of them, and we'll be able to see what's real, and what's just some BS a guy made up in his basement.
   
   (Facebook is also planning to throttle the promotion of faux news stories on their site, which is also a good thing.)

      Your logic, unfortunately, is illogical.
      The government puts out false news stories daily. If we do not have an alternative to the lies our own government tells us, we're no better off than Russia under communism. Free speech is or isn't.

      Again: nobody is taking the faux news sites down. Google and FB are simply not supporting them any longer. You are free to get your bogus news from any site you like.

      Still not censorship. The faux news is right there for you to read, should you wish, but Google and FB are not going to promote them. Perhaps of those faux news sites start verifying their facts, they can become sources for credible news.
