What do you think is humanity's major problem?
We, humans, have to face a lot of problems. Some say is Global warming, other say world hanger. I say our major problem is egoism. What do you think?
Hello loannis,
I agree with you. I feel indifference towards others and self importance is cause of all the problems in that world. If people put aside their ego and work together lot of the problems humanity faces can be solved.
Thank you, Nicci. That's exactly my opinion. That is my personal fight.
I think humanity's most disastrous problem is currently the practice of prioritizing profits over people. Allowing corporate interests to suck every dime of profit out of our planet, while paying workers minimally, denying them basic human rights like healthcare, and polluting the water, air, and soil, will eventually lead to our destruction.
The profits over people mentality is directly responsible for global warming, world hunger, and poverty, and will eventually lead to a planet that is no longer habitable by mankind.
And so we go back to greed and egoism! Thank you, Lisa. Very thoughtful and brave answer.
Humanity's major problem I think is 'GREED'. Hard to resist comes in different forms or finds different ways to seize control and inflict the damage.
It totally corrupts the senses and even leads to moral bankruptcy. The worst part is - 'it only knows how to multiply'!
I agree with you, Joshi. I think that every one of us has to give his fight against greed. Thank you for your answer.
Wow... That's a tough one. I've been thinking about it a lot and still do, but I haven't really come to a conclusion, since I find it very difficult to answer things I don't have all the info about. Which means that I haven't figured out yet the true nature of humans. I know what I want to believe. And this is what you answer. That it is our egoism that make everything difficult. And this is kind of a really optimistic version. Because egoism is something we can really work on as long as we acknowledge it. But on the other hand, someone told me once that there is actually nothing wrong with this world. That everything is exactly the way they are supposed to be. That good needs bad in order to exist and there has to be problems for solutions to be found and misery for happiness to thrive, etc. And this is also a quite convincing theory. However, a greek poet used to believe that history is a circle in which everything is being repeated again again. Which kind of shows that people have always and will always be like this, so this is actually the best version of humanity. Maybe it is our nature, the basic instinct of survival that can never be tamed. It is definitely not an answer I want to espouse, but it is a possibility. And I'm sure there are even more theories and versions. So for now that I don't know which one is closer to the true, I don't think I can give an answer I'm comfortable with (even though I've written so much lol). But until I have my info, I'm focusing on understanding what are my major problems as human and try to fix them.
A very thoughtful approach for such a young person like you my dear Agathi. I hope you'll found your info as soon as possible because humanity needs "fixers" like you. My best wishes and thank you for this answer.
I feel that the world's issues could be summed up with one word, "Selfishness." In just about every aspect of everyday life selfishness is shown toward one or the other in an attempt to show favoritism towards oneself. Rather in emotional relationships, political views and issues, even if you have a parent who refuses to reward a child, there is some form of selfishness there that leads to the decision to place one's self of importance first. Be it finances, sex, a stroke of ego, materialism or whatever. Society has brained washed us into straying away from love thy neighbor as we love ourselves. In today's world, people treat right like it's wrong and wrong like it's right. It's not a surprise to see the fall of man in the near future because everyone is out to please themselves and satisfy their own appetite for whatever power struggle they are trying to accomplish.
That's my answer too, dear Forstine. If we don't see that all we are one and give away our selfishness, this world has no future. Thank you for your "voice."
You are right, of course. The imagined sense of self, along with all of its mind-held beliefs, including its trauma, hangups, emotional reactions, is the main challenge we, as a species, needs to master. Almost as important though, given our extremely low rate of spiritual change, over population would be close behind it.
I agree with you, Tom. Thank you for your compelling answer.

What would you say is the World's biggest issue?I am not saying the biggest problem in the Middle East, the biggest problem as a Western Culture, but as a Earth-bound community, what is the largest problem we as humans are currently facing?

“Who Are You?” Often we heard people asked. They want you to tell them who you really are. This is really simple question, is it? Or is it not?Have you ever noticed how people can come up with different answer for that simple question? And sometimes they also come up with more than one answers.“I...

If God would give you His complete power for 24 hours what would you do with it?I have pondered this question the first time when I was a kid. And I must have change my answer maybe 50 times or so since then. Not that I expect something like this to ever to really happen to someone. But if I...
