Why is depression among teens is increasing?

We've seen teens these days getting depressed which results in suicides and drugs addiction, what is the cause for this? Parents getting busy? Less love given to them? Early love? Studies being a burden? The feeling of being alone? Whatever it is. It's bad, for the families and the nation. As teenagers are the future.

parents are not taking note of the teens behavior. When a teen locks himself in the bedroom, that is a no no sign.

The world seems to have become a negative place. Social media is not always a positive outlet anymore. And people are quite mean to each other, especially during their teen years.

I recommend being a positive reinforcer in your child's life. Encourage them to find what they are passionate about and do it. Also, exercise and good diet really help with enhancing moods.

It's not easy being a parent of a teenager these days, but patience and love will greatly help.

Depression and suicide are tied to feelings of hopelessness.
Whenever one stops believing "tomorrow" could be better than today they start to give up.
Young people are known to be "shortsighted". Everything for them is about "right now". The typical 16 year old can't even imagine themselves walking on a college campus two years from now let alone imagine their life 5 or 10 years from now.
When I was in Jr. High a 13 year old girl attempted suicide because her 14 year old boyfriend broke up with her to date the "new girl" in the school.
As hard as it is to imagine a 13 year believing their life isn't worth living over something so insignificant isn't as far fetch when you understand many teens lack the maturity to view this period in their lives as being (temporary).
Neither good times or bad times last forever.
Everyone has to learn to "ride the waves" in life.
