And it did not cost us a cent ! Once again our president has accomplished a hard task. He piles up accomplishment afer accomplishment, and yet many still can't see he is doing a great job?
Maybe it's because informed people know that North Korean does what China tells it to do and not the United States. We have 70 years of history to prove that fact.
China dominates NK politics and especially its economy. As well, China wants Trump to remain the U.S. president. Xi Jinping loves the opportunity for Trump to destroy our world credibility and for China to replace the U.S. as the world superpower.
Trump is doing a good job of handing our leadership to China.
Incarcerating those Americans in the first place, was shenanigans.
Releasing them at this moment in time, is shenanigans.
Trump's personal flaws are being manipulated, most likely by China, via N. Korea.
Notice N. Korea has already started making demands: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-nort … SKCN1IG2ZI
So now N. Korea is dangling a direct meeting in front of Trump as bargaining chip. With every other US president it was the other way around. That's not progress, it's N. Korea (strongly influenced by China) taking advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Trump is a destabilising force on the US and its existing strategic alliances (sanctioning the EU over Iran? Really?) So they want to take full advantage of that while it lasts.
Remember, the majority of the N. Korean population is brutally oppressed, and kept in abject poverty. It's unlikely the reason for this release is a sudden outbreak of humanity on Jong-un's part.
promisem, Thank you for your comment. I have the same opinion in regard to China having a history, as well some control over NK. In this case, China is more concerned in negotiating new trade deals. I would think they can see we have a president that does what he says he will do. In regards to Trump destroying credibility. Do you recall Obama's last trip to China, he had to deplane off the back of Air Forse One. Need I add the youtube of the greeting Trump received in China?
If anything Trump may just solve one of the biggest problems the world has had in many years. "Kim" announced today he announced will take the first steps in less than two weeks to dismantle the country's nuclear test site, as they prepare for the historic summit between leaders of the isolated nation and the United States. So, I would think that world leaders would find Trump's more than credible. As well as a good neighbor.
In regards to trade deals, yes many will take notice that Trump is a man that does what he says he will do. As a nation, we have been abused by poor trade deals. It's time to renegotiate any and all deals where we have been treated unfairly. I have confidence Trump will negotiate fair trade deals. It appears he uses strength as well as fairness when solving problems. Just my opinion...
It's so odd how divide the country is when it comes to Trump? Some are so frightened, and bitter. Yet many are very happy with his results and feel we are on the right track. Hey, in some years he will be gone. It will be interesting how the historians will depict him?
Sharlee, I'm glad we agree about China's control over NK.
I hope we also agree that any trade deal should benefit both parties. I think we need to wait and see if Trump's trade policies will help or hurt the country.
Regarding the country's divsion about Trump, I believe the divisions among the right, center and left in this country have been growing for decades. I believe Obama suffered as much abuse as Trump is facing now.
Promisisem., I agree any and all trade deals should benefit and be fair to all involved. It is just my opinion but I started seeing the division at the end of Bush's presidency. I noted that after 9/11 turmoil and the seeds of division were sewed. I think it was due to American's realizing we are not untouchable but vulnerable. The Obama years brought more fear. The fear of a nuclear Iran, as well as NK We, witnessed our country turning it's back on genocide in Syria. These are just a few of the things that deepened the divide. Add in economic problems and social upheaval. The very split of our moral fabric. Many turned their backs on diplomacy. Many may have felt it was time for a change. This is one of the reasons Trump won. Hillary Clinton was personified status quo.
Yes, I agree we will have to wait and see what becomes of NAFTA . And yes Obama took much unnecessary abuse, and he still is being poorly abused. It's a shame how we don't readily realize, we continue to make the same mistakes, and it does no one any good.

Who is the best choice for the next U.S. President. Oprah, Trump, Mitt Romney, Hillary? Who then? This question presupposes that Barry O'bama will not be re-elected. But I believe he will be unless the opposition comes up with a blockbuster candidate like Oprah. Or maybe George...

I have watched the DNC convention all week --- I have heard lots of what Trump has done to destroy America, and how he single-handedly kill hundred of thousand American's due to his handling of COVID. I have heard lot's about the presidents' lack of empath, as well as his flawed character... The...
