What is this about Trump's desire to invade Venezuela?

I think that conservatives would have no problem withTime Magazine as not being "fake news". But I am seeing this article in other outlets as well. It goes to show why I am not particularely fond of conservatives nor their mode of thinking.

What gives America the right to invade Venuszuela and to what end? This is Trump and a mirror image  of another saber rattler and aggressor that hailed from the Aryan Heights some 80 years ago.

Here is the story, what excuses do conservatives have for this sort of action from the US in the Trump universe?

Given the spin, the misdirection, the intentional contextual misrepresentation and yes, the outright lies from the left about what Trump has said or wants or will do, you link would certainly better with some names or other proof that the allegations have a slight bit of truth to them.  I don't know about you, but these "unidentified, confidential" sources are a bit tiresome to me.

A war is always about money. Patriotism is an excuse. As Castlepaloma said, Venezuela has a lot of oil. And the US hates it when oil or other commodities are not on the "free" market but in the hands of a government.
The relationship between the US and South-America is an ugly and dirty one. Any country that had a slightly social government was put in place with a dictatorship supported by the US (read multinationals.)
Trump hates socialism (Not that I would call Chavez a socialist, he is a pure dictator.) so put Trumps basic urge of wanting a war to proof himself and the oil dollars, it isn't such a strange thing that his eye has fallen on Venezuela.
Because there will come a war, nothing beats a war if it comes to votes.

Why do you think the US, Britain, and France formed BP after also aiding the re-establishment of the Jews in Israel after WWII? We knew of the vast oil reserves there and had to somehow get sway over them. Venezuela is no different. Big oil beats ethics..

Try the ethics of walking around Randy .  Don't like oil companies don't drive , don't buy any more tires , don't buy trail mix in plastic bags ,  diapers , electronics , ......

The green party would greatly bebates that. Except the oil and phony money whores will crush them with their military.

Green Party's joke , they create and live within more   pollution  than all of us.

              It's called environmental hypocrisy .

Tell me, is it just to steal the resorces of another country. Because thats what’s essencially is happening. Big oil companies dont like it if a country owns its own oil reserve. Thats why there are wars in Iraq, Syria and many other places.
Venezuala would be a big price. The first stage to prepare for a war is to condemn a country in the newspapers. Then its easy to find a “moral” excuse to invade a country.
Ahorseback, Please could you explain your theory why the green party creates more polution?

Like to hear how the Green party pushes to pollute the earth physically like Trump dose. I like to hear how the Green party gets together to pass laws to kill bear and wolf cubs. Or how they promote over fishing the ocean, fossil energy and clear cut forest.
Please make clear their actions to deserve the title of Hippocrites.

Thanks , Peterstreep. Such saber rattling may prove a diversion from his domestic troubles. Since there is no threat of Nuclear proliferation, how does the gunboat diplomacy of the last century fit as an excuse for intervention today? I almost wish that he would pursue this idea and give me the opportunity of seeing his head on a pole in response from progressive thinkers and the international community.

Dont wish to much. If Trump would start a war, it would probably save him, and he would go for a second term. Thats why Thatcher started the Falklandwar for instance, she won the ellections with it.
Bush jr. did the same and won a second term.

Yes, I remember the "Iron Lady". I am hoping for more a Vietnam type outcome and response from the public, because Venuzuala may not easy roll over. This is not Granada. New body counts in an entirely different section of the planet having nothing to do with exporting terrorism and the like, how long can Trump sell it, with his cluster f***  management in every other aspect of his governance?

We would be doing a great favor to the starving and oppressed people of Venezuela were we to take over and restore some form of democratic government there.

Perhaps, but the idea of PAX Americana does not appeal to me and leaves me with profound distrust. Like you have said before you have a distrust ofgovernment. I am certainly not going to believe that American military interference and intervention  would be benevolent.

I'm not aware of Trumps plans to invade Venezuela.

Although it would make dirty scoundrel sense, to invade it for its oil and lack of America Centro banking. There is a number of countries in South America who really dislike Americans.

That is the only ground Trump needs in order to be Number one oil country in the World.

Is this really outside from his operating agenda? I think that this is supposedly a regime change to remove an obviously "leftist" oriented government regardless of the troubles there. It is that damned Dick Cheney and his attitudes rearing its ugly head once again.

This nosing around has no support from me or progressives, so Trump had better shelve that idea quickly.

With Trump, the "Ugly American" is back....

LOL  Trump has no support from you so he better not do it?  Funny.

But I don't know why he would want to remove a leftist government - Venezuela makes a perfect example of what the left is "progressing" towards.

Ask, him, Wilderness, why the necessity for regime change? Since for you Trump can do no wrong, I guess you are OK with the invasion concept. It is not just rumor as you say eVERYTIME adverse information is reported about Trump. Does he have to tell you to your face before you stop questioning the validity of so many press reports as if you have reliable contrary information. if you do, where is it?

He if moves on his plan the outcry will drive him out of office, so as I say, you had better not go there.

Just because we don't subscribe to your 19th century version of capitalism brought back to America does not mean that we are in support of what is happening in Venezuela.

bTW, on another thread I told GA that you were against the minimum wage in principle, he said that this was not true. So which is it?

          1. wilderness profile image95
wildernessposted 5 years agoin reply to this

??  I thought I made it clear that unsubstantiated, unsupported claims from an unknown source are something I do not choose to take as gospel.  You may do it, but I won't.

Why aren't you in support?  It is socialism all the way - you just don't like seeing the result of it.  Are you ready now to accept that it doesn't work?

GA is correct.  I haven't the faintest where you got that idea.  In theory a minimum wage is not necessary (and it is less so than it was), but in practice, in reality, it is.  Unlike the liberal philosophy I do not live in a fantasy where what I wish were true is - reality trumps fantasy every time.  I am satisfied with what we've got - a minimum wage just sufficient to live on if one is very careful and frugal.  Anything beyond that, though, is destructive and should be avoided.

The best balance I have seen is socialism and capitalism mix. Wail putting Corperations under control.
This is related to the happiest countries in the world. Still, I think there is a better system out that we are all working on.

When out of control or unbalance socialism can turn into communism or capitalism can turn into Corperationism. Venezuela horror can easily happen in America too. Venezuela focus dependant too much on their oil, as they blame US. US is depending too much on oil for their wealth.

It seems between Trump and Bolten, they need to invade someone, maybe to take the heat off of Trump and all these investigations. I see no valid reason to invade Venezuela.

Don't be surprised if Bozo is contemplating an aggressive military move against Canada as well, or any of our other former allies, he's already begun an economic war against them while licking Vladimir Putin's dirty boots: But that still won't alleviate the white hot furnace of corruption, chaos and criminal activity that surrounds Mr. Trump, his family and associates:

A military conflict can commence today and Robert Mueller and the SD of NY would continue on their paths toward the inevitable impeachment and or indictment of Donny Boy: Let's just hope and pray they can remove this lunatic megalomaniac clown before this collapsing nation is turned completely into Russian Owned Ruble: For the children's sake:

Hi, Sam, nice to see you again, thanks for your comment. Trump will trump up some sort of "Reichstag fire" provocation excuse to justify military intervention. This is consistent with his character. Since when has he ever been honest and above board?

Hi, I am not so sure the American public is so gullible to allow that to ever happen again. Most older Americans would be or should be screaming this is the Gulf of Tonkin all over again. I sure hope the younger generation even knows the history about that or the history of the Reichstag fire.

Venezuela , Now the armpit of the world was once a booming oil economy that should present itself as a lesson for  liberals all across America , heck, the world .  " Booming Economy "  was that countries middle name until they nationalized the free trade oil companies and took them over ,   What's happened since then ? Oil money has enriched the leadership of the country ,  leaving the masses embroiled in bartering butter for corn and starving to death illegally immigrating to America ,  WHILE THEY SIT on the largest oil reserves in the world ?  Why ?

Socialism , Government instituted guaranteed incomes ,free healthcare ,  like liberals want for America .

I can't imagine any person in my lifetime, worst on the natural environment health than Trump.

Green party is the most proactive grass root group working hard to change this mostly snytheic world that the two party system (worst offenders) created.
