The recent earnings report for Amazon came back and there are three purchases for products that I have not promoted. Not sure if this is a mistake or am I to assume that if a reader lands on your page, clicks a link in reference to your product and then decides to pass on that product but continues to shop on Amazon and then eventually buy other things by way of your hub link then do we get the credit?
Yes, that is exactly what happens. Your Amazon link brought them to the page— even if they didn’t buy the item in your ad, you get a commission on items they do buy. Nice.
Thank You for the confirmation Rochelle! They bought three items ... Bonus! Glad I didn't have to report a mishap ))
When someone clicks on your amazon link, and goes to amazon - anything they buy within 24 hours gets you a commission. It's a 24 hour tracking cookie that leads back to you.
Sometimes I get commissions for sex toys. Hey, I ain't proud
Yep. Anything purchased when a person passes through the portal you provided in your article makes money for you. Be happy...this is a really big benefit for us!
Really pleased to hear that the Amazon payments are working out for you. In my first article I thought it was fair game to mention the two guide books I had used on my trip. I thought they were very relevant to the hub, but I only managed to get it published by deleting them. Since then I have avoided Amazon pods despite having guide books from there which I can recommend. Any suggestions on what I should do?
Not sure if you are using the Amazon Pods to the right-hand side menu which is a problem ... that's what I had been doing for quite the longest time and they were always deleted by system edit ... are you using the Amazon links within the text capsule? I've input my Amazon links this way ... I've tried to be as careful as possible only placing items that relate however it seems they are very picky and I haven't figured out the rhyme or reason completely ... it's trial and error. They keep deleting them and I keep trying
I did use the Amazon pods. Thanks for the tip
I'll try embedding the links in a text pod instead. Why do hub pages have Amazon pods if they won't approve articles with them in?
Thought the same question ... not a clue. It really annoys me to think I spent hours, trying to figure that out thinking I was doing the right thing. Luckily, peeps in the forum were kind enough to point it out. Cheers
I think they will approve articles with them. Here's the thing though, ad blockers can not block the amazon anchor text links. The ad blockers can and do absolutely block out the amazon capsules.
Thanks for explaining. Sometimes it feels like it will take me several years to figure out how best to use hub pages.
I'll help you any way I can. You can email me personally if you need to. The internet is constantly changing, and Hubpages constantly does what it has to do to change along with the rest of the web. To stay competitive.
Ah ha. There is method to the madness. Thanks for clarifying this.
Robin Edmondson stated it to me, just like that, several years ago. So I stopped right then and there, and started doing all text links to amazon. I told her that was what I was going to do, and she said, 'thank you.'
I'd have never realized on my own why it was the text links were better for everyone. After being told though, it seemed so dang obvious.
It's not really that they don't approve them. Research has shown that the content links provide better results and make the hubs look less spammy. Also, many people here simply do not know how to use them properly.
It would be nice if the Amazon report included which hub article generated the sale ... or maybe there is a way and I'm not aware?
Christy posted a comment that clarified how to add a link to your article so it doesn't appear spammy. I follow what she wrote and have had no problems. I will see if I can find it because it was from one of my questions/comments.
The links need to be justified and valid from experience, not just a passive mention.

A few weeks ago my earning percentage dropped from about 10% to about 5%. Is it just me?

We are going to increase Amazon earnings for most of you! Amazon is becoming part of the HP Earnings program. In early November folks will have the opportunity to switch to get paid their Amazon earnings through the HP Earnings program. For new Hubbers, this will greatly simplify...

After the Ebay changes that occured about 2 months or so ago, am not earning from it even a single cent. Have you been affected by the Ebay changes? What next for those who cannot earn with Ebay and Amazon?

I know that Hubpages is just collecting more accurate data. And that there are delays with the third party. But in a lot of cases, I get greatly reduced CPM when there is a delay in earning updates. I missed an opportunity when my hubs scored more than a thousand views last weekend. After a delay...

I am not earning anything from ebay or Amazon, in spite of putting relevant ads! How about you?Should I stop placing them? Does this affect traffic also?
