    Hi All,
I recently submitted my article for consideration on WanderWisdom, but it was not selected. I would like to know what I can do to improve my article to make it good enough for the network site. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Here is the article:

You've written a good article, Lisha. I think the problem may be that it's too general. I just looked at the WanderWisdom home page. The site seems to want articles about a specific place or about a factor related to the travelling process, such as packing tips.

Perhaps you could choose a different network site for your article or edit it so that it's a better match for WanderWisdom.

Thank you for your suggestions, Linda. I too was wondering if it was because it's too general. I had intentionally made it a general article as there are so many great mountain ranges to visit across the world. But I hadn't looked into the details of the network sites at the time.
I went through the list of other network sites but did not find any better fit. SkyAboveUs seemed like an option, but again my article is not about any specific outdoor activity like climbing or hiking. Looks like the only option is to edit it to a specific destination.
      Thank you for your feedback.

Linda has a point. I've written articles for WanderWisdom and they are more specific about locations. Perhaps you can add particular mountain ranges and what is there to enjoy. Personal experience also helps.  I am thinking of Sierras, Cascades, Appalachians, and Catskills. I am not sure Catskills is a mountain range.  Good luck!

Catskills is a mountain range.  It was once a vacation destination for New Yorkers trying to escape the summertime heat and crowds of NYC.

Thank you for your suggestions, Kenna. I will edit this article or maybe write a new article which focuses on a particular mountain destination.

I target all my travel articles for WanderWisdom, and yes, they do prefer more specific write-ups. In terms of SEO, these perform better too.

Not every place or destination, or theme, would be a winner, though. For example, I discovered write-ups about lesser known museums really perform badly. Obscure mountain destinations probably would be the same too.

Yes, I'm starting to understand the preference towards more specific articles. I will pay more attention to this from now on.

Is it okay to let this article remain on HubPages or is there no point? I'm quite happy with the way I was able to express my thoughts, so I feel it might be better to just write a new specific article altogether.

There's no harm in letting it stay, but you also wouldn't get any real traffic.

I have a couple of earlier hubs that I left in this condition. All are still, after 4 years, languishing in double-digit total traffic.

Oh, no traffic at all. Then I will see what best I can do to move it.

Thanks a lot for your inputs, I appreciate your time.

Here's something else you can consider. It's something I do once in a while too with hubs not moved to the niche sites.

I delete these from HP, edit them, then republish them on other platforms a few weeks later. Following which, I use the republished version to backlink to my important hubs on the niche sites like Wanderwisdom.

Most of the time, this gives a small SEO boost. It's also, more or less, proper backlinking. More importantly, the text isn't wasted, so to speak.

This sounds like a good idea. I will consider doing this. Thanks for the tips!

Nice idea! What platform do you use?

I use my own blog, Medium, Quora, and whatever platform that accepts guest posts. The overall boost isn't awesome, tbh. But like i said earlier, it's better than wasting the writeup.

This is interesting, I hadn't thought about it, but I think this is true of all articles and niche sites. The ones I have on niche sites are very specific.

Lisha, althrough I'm not on Wonder Wisdom, I believe Alicia and Kenna.                           Do write a new article, on a spcific mountain range. Good success.

Your article is better than what Google has as its current snippet, so if I were you I would go ahead and submit it to Wanderwisdom and see if it is accepted.
Do not count on much traffic though. Even when a searcher enters the title you have chosen, almost all of the results are for specific mountain ranges. Since you have a knowledge of camping/hiking in the mountains you need to add more articles more specific to the ranges that you have visited.
Do you have some of your own original photos that you can use?

Dr. Mark, you're  welcome. I will later write on a niche site and will take this your advice into account. Thanks.

Thank you for your inputs, DrMark. I already submitted it to WanderWisdom, but it was rejected yesterday. Hence, I was wondering how to improve it.

Would it never get the chance to occupy the Google snippet if leave it on HubPages in its current state? I feel that since specific destinations are preferred, it would be best if I just write a new article. However, I wouldn't want this current article to get absolutely no traffic.

Yes, I have original photos. If I were to write a new article about the specific mountain destination and describe the various places to see, my photos would be useful. In this generalized article, I could see a use for only a few of my original photos.

I have never seen an article from Hubpages on the featured snippet. There are plenty from the niche sites (I think I have about 10 but they are all on Pethelpful, not HP). I could be wrong, of course, so if anyone else has seen a HP article as a featured snippet please let us know.
The other thing is I do now know how much traffic that featured snippet is even getting.

Oh, that's disappointing to hear. I guess I always need to first check the types of articles that are featured on the targeted niche site. I just assumed that anything related to travel would do for WanderWisdom.

Yes, that's true—it still might not be getting any traffic at all.

I will try to see how I can edit it to satisfy the WanderWisdom requirements, although I think I need to wait 60 days before I can re-submit it. However, if I need to change the majority of the article, I will just let it remain on HubPages and hope for the best.

Thank you for your time and help, DrMark.
