Inability to make comments & missing photo descriptions - niche sites.

I believe that I read on some forum posts that the inability to make comments on many of the niche sites would, at some point, be corrected.  Does anyone have an idea of how long this will take?

On some of the Delishably sites, the descriptions under photos (except for the top image) are missing.  Is this also a temporary glitch?  I think it is helpful to have a description.  Is anyone else noticing this?

I have the same query Peggy, about the recent transfers of some of the niche sites.
      1. The profile picture of the author is not visible.
      2. The readers are not able to comment on the article.
      3. I am not sure about, how much the ownership of the article is affected.
.4. Yes, the descriptions under the pictures are important, and they should be visible. I am not quite comfortable in accepting these changes.

I am not comfortable with the changes I have noticed on these niche sites. Change is never easy. I hope that there are adjustments made so that comments are possible again and that the photo descriptions are reinstated.

That is a good point, Chitrangada.  I had not noticed the profile picture was also missing.  Will the descriptions under the photos start showing at some point?  Will comments once again be allowed on the sites where they are now no longer available except to show the old ones already made?  I wish someone from HubPages or Maven would answer these queries.

At least, the author’s profile page link should be provided, so that, if some of the visitors, if interested, they can know/ read more about the writer’s work. This indirectly can affect the traffic/ views of our other articles.

I too have the same queries. I am unable to post comments on articles and saw awkwardly placed advertisements in between the articles .... That prompted me to look for what had gone wrong and I came to this forum. I hope these queries are addressed and proper actions are taken at the earliest.

I have not noticed this. All the Delishably articles that I know have photo captions are showing them. Two other articles I looked at were also showing captions.

Are you sure they had captions? In my experience not all authors use captions.

        Hi Shesabutterfly,

I just checked the Delishably site to find the captions are now there.  Unfortunately, they have an advertisement right under most of the photos, so unless a person scrolls down further, readers might not notice the captions.  The ads would be better placed under the photos with captions showing.

That only happens with photos in thumbnails. I agree it's terrible placement. It was brought up to staff and for now there is no plan to change ad placement unfortunately.

With technology today, there are no excuses. The changeover is not professional with glitzes. I am very disappointed.

I was going through a couple of interesting posts and I really missed commenting on them like before. Back here after a sabbatical. Hubpages has changed so much. But keeping faith that it is all for the good.

I'm glad this topic is here.

Having just started to browse around what other people are writing, as a newbie, I read an interesting hub on one of the network sites and wanted to leave a comment. There was a comment section there with published comments, but I couldn't find how to leave one myself. I thought it was just a personal technical issue.

How do the comments get there then? Are these hubs also published somewhere else which does allow commenting and if so how can I find them?

They are on hold at the moment as the sites are being migrated to new platforms.

Welcome to HubPages, by the way smile

Edit: Took a look at your first article, Dean. It will be rejected - you can't self-promote here.

Got to say, I'm really, really surprised so many folks feel so strongly about comments.

I think it depends on the topic, but many times in the past I have had readers ask "but what about..." and after answering I have gone back to article and added something that other readers may need in the future.
Not having comments make articles look cheap and just another huckster site that is not at all helpful.

Returning the ability to comment can't happen soon enough.

My problem with the site migration is that all of my videos are missing from my articles on Spinditty. Others that I've asked also can't see them although they can be seen when I use the 'View on Hubpages' option.
