California Governor, Austin Mayor, Denver Mayor Should Resign

   All three of these politicians should resign after being caught in the classic political scandal of asking people to "do what I say, not what I do".
   
   As I understand it, the Cal. Governor was having dinner at the French Laundry - or organizing some kind of get together while asking the citizens of California to lock down. The Denver mayor did something similar, asking Denver's residents to stay home while planning a trip to see his mother. And the Austin mayor was asking residents to basically lock down while vacationing in Cabo.
   
   All three of these politicians should immediately resign for being massive a-holes.

      Well, while I agree with you that they are selfish a-holes (as are many Americans), the standard for expecting the resignation  of a public official has been  lowered to, I don't know, never?
      
      I'm to the point now where I 'm just biding my time and protecting myself and my family as best I can until this virus is under control. My expectations that enough Americans will behave rationally have fallen to nonexistent.

         I agree that there's almost no situation now where any public official would have to resign. However, I think Democrats would do well to demand it. Hold themselves to a different standard. Unfortunately, I fear that so many public officials think exactly like these people do that Democrats might have to resign en masse.

         Ha! I knew there was a reason we frequently agree. We both know there are a lot of idiots among us. (sometimes also including "us").
         
         But, let me bolster your confidence a bit. Many, many Americans do behave rationally. It's just that we aren't the ones that make the news, or have viral Twitter or Facebook moments, or are politicians.

            That's something we all need to remember; that the vast majority of Americans are not nut cases.  But that it is the nut cases that shout the loudest and get the most attention, making it seem as if they number in the tens of millions.
            
            How many Americans are gun toting White Supremacists holed up in their enclave?  1,000?  10,000...out of 320 million?  That's only .003% of the population!

         What have they done? Have they attended rallies or run around in public without masks? Taken lush vacations while the rest of us languish at home ?You didn't name any specific beefs that you have with them or is it because they are just Democrats in general?

            Well, you could start with Pelosi ramrodding a fake impeachment effort through the House and follow it up with the extreme disrespect shown our President (incitement to riot, perhaps) as a leading member of the House of Representatives.

               At least a decent answer from you. Honest and straight to the point. I disagree that they are any worse than Mitch McConnell, and others like Jim Jordan and Jon Kennedy though. Just maybe wield a little more power than the latter two.

      A politician being a massive a-hole, say it ain't so?!
      
      At this point the majority of America has stepped outside of the media bubble and into the reality just outside of their front door; that reality being that life is moving forward as it always has, but now with more masks and hand sanitizer. Our leaders aren't doing anything different than most others, except for the fact their hypocrisy is much more visible. However, to even worry about it is idealistic and ignorant of reality.
      
      By all appearances it's the older generations who worry the most about this stuff, understandably, but nonetheless the majority really does not care that much. Being classist myself, I will always support the dethroning of those above and the disdain for those beneath, but at the end of the day I could care less as I do the exact same things they're doing.
      
      Live, laugh, love, and ignore everyone else's opinions; so long as you keep moving up the ladder of your own life you're doing great.

      I understand your frustration.  When I was an officer in the Army, we were taught that leaders lead by example.  Now, we are facing a dangerous pandemic.  It seems the Democrats have made rules for people to follow other than themselves and their families.  It's the height of hypocrisy.  I believe most people hate this sense of double standards.
      
      I will spare you the talk of how things were during the days of the Soviet Union, but those leaders behaved much the same way.  They also controlled people's lives and said it was to protect the people.  In reality, it was to further their power over people. 
      
      The behavior of the Soviet Union's leaders and the leaders in the Democrat party are eerily similar.
