   Hello dear friends,
   I just want to know the structure of earnings on HP here.
   Do earnings start after two years on HubPages? Is this guideline of HubPages true as I read. Is it necessary to join earnings program to see your earnings get started? As I don't have PayPal account I have yet not joined earnings program on HP. I am on HP from 7 months and the guideline says you won't be able to see your earnings before two years.

      Rozlin, Your thread reminded me of a friend who has been saying this to me for a long time. HubPages is a place for writers to exercise their creativity.
      
      I believe, a few writers are paid on a monthly basis by HubPages but I think that the initial payout takes a long time.
      
      I, too, joined HP 7 months ago. I hadn't recieved my first payout yet, but I am okay with that. Though, I am getting good traffic that I didn't think was there before.
      
      Just feeling happy and proud with those 8-10 cents a day.

               Well, there's no other point in writing on a paying platform that has specific requirements. If I wanted to do it for fun, there are other, probably better places to share. And if I wanted to write out my feely stuff I'd do it in my journal

                  Bev, I write for enjoyment and Love. The reason for this is that the community here is wonderful.
                  There are numerous platforms, but I believe and have experienced as well that none have a good and supportive community.
                  
                  Before I started writing on HubPages, I tried a couple of other sites and didn't like them at all.
                  
                  Even so, payments were simple, quick, and in cryptocurrency.
                  
                  I believe, HubPages is good for many reasons
                  
                  Well, I have a journal, and every time I write in it, I tear the pages out after writing. Why? I have no idea

               I agree with Bev, a blog site like Wordpress is better if you aren't bothered about earning.
               
               It's entirely possible to earn 3 or 4 figure sums here, but it takes a lot of work and a lot of different skills have to come together.
               
               There's a technical side that many good writers neglect relating to keyword analysis and SEO. The learning center covers it (though not in great depth), but I suspect most people skip that bit.
               
               Unless you write articles that have keywords that people are looking for, but without big competition, you're kind of doomed to mediocre earnings, unless you just happen to get lucky.

      Yes, you need to activate your HubPages Ad Program to earn. You can do that at your Account Page and then click on the Earnings link at the top. As Rupert says you will receive a payment once you reach the threshold of $50 and it is through PayPal. So, you will need a PayPal account. That threshold of $50 will vary for each individual and the performance of their articles.
      
      What is meant by two years is for many it takes that long for articles to mature garnering more traffic leading to reaching the threshold on a regular basis. Again, that varies for each individual.

      You should join the earnings program, keep writing good quality articles on a regular basis and hopefully get them onto the niche sites, build up a store of great work and then be patient. If all goes well you will start to earn, small amounts at first, and if you continue to with consistent quality, earnings should increase. I note you have recipes - these might earn for you eventually but you'll need to be competitive if you want a decent ranking, which means more traffic to, and impressions on, your page. It's important to stick at it, build up stock - HP is a slow burner but eventually the rewards might come.

   You have to accumulate $50 in earnings before getting paid. When you hit that number HP pays out and resets the clock at zero. You are going to need about  1,000 views a day to get payout every month.

   Thank you friends, I have learnt about the earnings from all of your replies. I'm enjoying writing on HP without earning a single penny. And when I will be able to see my earnings even in cents, it will be encouraging for me to keeping writing here. Misbah, like you, even I love the atmosphere here on HP. I have made new friends here. Actually what happened, yesterday everybody on HP was complaining about last two days pending earnings. So I thought even I'm here since last 7 months why I'm not able to see my earnings? Now I understood HPs guidelines. It's important to connect PayPal account to see the earnings getting started.

      Thank you, Rozlin I know a few people here who have been writing here for Love and Fun for years and haven't received any payment; in fact, they haven't even linked their HP account with PayPal as it is not available in their countries But in order to earn you have to link your PayPal account.
      
      As majority of your articles are on niches, I believe they have the potential to generate a lot of organic traffic.

   Rozlin, when I joined almost ten years ago, I didn't see my first payout until about two years later. In the beginning, I posted mostly poetry and short stories. Those aren't money makers because they don't attract organic (Google) traffic. Most of the traffic for those type articles is from within HP. Once I started posting reviews, how-to's, etc., I began earning. To this day, I receive a payout on those older articles that appear in search engine results.
   
   I haven't posted much since I went back to work full-time in 2015, but I receive a payout every other month despite the fact that I'm not adding much content to my HP portfolio.
   
   Appeal to organic searchers and you'll begin to see your efforts pay off. Provide viable information, answer questions (with authority) to the seeking public and you'll begin to earn a paycheck. Just don't quit your day job, if you have one!

   Sounds like you more or less got your answer from the varied responses.
   
   It did take me a couple years to earn enough for a payout; in spite of the fact I wrote lengthy detailed articles centering on my expertise, with original photos, I failed to earn very much. Plain and simple, I did not have any SEO knowledge. So, without understanding search engines and keyphrases, you are unlikely to earn much, even if you do everything else right.

   You can earn sooner than 2 years, but you have to be very dedicated and write a lot of articles. I made money my first year, and I am only here about a year and a half. However, do not quit your day job. It was just a little, and I have more articles than the averaage person who has been here as little as I have. Most of them are featured too.

      It has more to do with what you write about and not volume. You could write a significant volume of articles but if it isn't what people search for on the Web, it won't garner traffic or much earnings. My topics in my early years were not what people look for on the Net. This is what I meant in my above comment that you have to have SEO and search engine knowledge, or get lucky and hit on topics people search for.

   I joined years ago. Went off on a break in between. But it was a good source of (very low) passive income even when I hardly logged in. I found that neat. Hardly putting in any effort, and still getting some cents lol.
