In addition to the Hubpages network sites, where else do you write? Other content sites? Freelance work? Personal projects?
How’s that working out for you? How do you decide what to post here and what to post there?
So far not much. But I like the feel of it. It's more relaxed.
Ive only been there a few days. Not sure what my plans are yet.
lovetherain, I'm happy for you. I should also have been at Medium at the moment. But due to the payment system, "Stripes", I'm unable to. But I also post on my blog at blog.spot.com or blogger. I wish you the best at Medium.
I have my own website to support my business and I write on Medium.
I have my own website too, but I have not really monetized it beyond some Amazon affiliate links. I like the idea of Medium, but I feel like if I don’t write it here, I put it on my website. Not sure where that would leave Medium in that equation.
It depends on the topic. Some topics do better on HubPages and others do well on Medium. I write about gardening on HubPages. That is a topic that doesn't do well on Medium. I write about politics on Medium. That is a topic that doesn't do well on HubPages.
I wonder could gardening/DIY guides do well on Medium, or are the readers simply not interested? My mission is to try to convince them that it's worth dabbling in the subjects.
Medium and HubPages are completely different. Medium is subscription based which means that you only get paid when Medium subscribers read your articles. You don't get paid for non-subscribers who find your articles through Google, etc. So if 1,000 people read your article, but only 200 of them are Medium subscribers, you only get paid for those 200 reads.
The most popular topics on Medium are self-help (HUGE), writing and politics (although I may be biased). There are very, very few articles on gardening. My guess is because there are so many free articles on gardening on the internet, why would anyone pay to subscribe to a site for information on gardening that they can get for free elsewhere?
I don't recommend Medium to anyone now. You may have missed the boat on it. They have made a lot of changes (Medium is very opaque and never discusses changes or how earnings are calculated) and since August, traffic and earnings have PLUMMETED. Most of the highest earners have left for other platforms.
Vocal Media is popular with fiction writers. Ghost is a site that charges you to write there but is supposed to be lucrative. I don't know, I haven't looked into it.
Substack seems to be the most popular destination for former Medium writers. The drawback is that it is newsletters and you need to bring your own mailing list or be prepared to spend months not earning a cent as you build your own mailing list.
This is further noted. Thanks for all the information.
I write for 2-3 other sites including my blog but I get earnings from only one of them. That is an Indian educational site (indiastudychannel.com) dealing with education, admission, entrance exam, college & institute information etc. It accepts articles on these topics related to Indian institutes as well as institutes and universities abroad.
I have a website that generates Google Ad revenues, and I have a handful of clients that pay me to write for them.
I am curious about adding Google AdSense to my website, but it has been ad-free up until now, save for some affiliate links.
GA pays all my website costs and more. I reach payout every other month.
I have a few other earning sources, but HP and Medium are it as far as writing goes. I should maybe throw my writing net wider and do some freelance work, too, as neither are doing that great right now... HP is my biggest earner.
Same for me. Writing is a side hustle, and Hubpages is the only thing that consistently pays me every month!
I write for Vocal and HubPages. I used to write for Blasting News and Examiner. I made more money on HubPages. https://toughnickel.com/self-employment … About-Them
Thanks for the link. Will check that out!
I've check it out along as i read. It seems the only thing she knows and can do well is write, write, and write. To keep soul, mind, and body balanced and relax, I do back of writing to go a-fishing in the river. Or I'm in the kitchen most Saturdays baking bread or cakes. Otherwise, I'll be in the swarmp with my fisherman son, picking periwincles. The meat is a delicacy in most soups.
I have my own website and I write articles for another website.

I have my own blog and I write some articles for Hubpages, but I was curious if anyone had any other places where they submit work. Do you do contract jobs? Or write for another site similar to Hubpages? I'm just exploring my options and seeing what else is out there to run alongside Hubpages...

First of all, I want to say that I am not considering leaving Hubpages. However, I am seriously considering starting my own website/blog, in addition to keeping my HubPage account. So, here's my understanding on how to go about starting my own site, bear in mind I don't know a lot about it: Buy and...

Can anyone explain if there is a requirement or at least an incentive somewhere somehow that would force or cause Hubpages to keep being active in its current form for many many years to come? The reason I ask is that I went through writing a lot of articles and then promoting eHow (not just my...

I've noticed that some people on here are making money from Hubpages and then also from other websites, like their own. Is it worth it to make my own website? Here is what I've collected so far:Pros:*Keep all the adsense/affiliate revenue*Not have to worry about spending a bunch of time on one site...
