Have Editors Given Up?

   Editing doesn't seem to happen any more.
   Maybe it's been discontinued as a cost cutting exercise?

      It is a bit different nowadays that's for sure. More hit and miss. I had a few edits before Christmas and have two articles in the HubPro pipeline as I write. Editing at HP is akin to farming or sailing a boat or playing chess. Nothing happens for long stretches of time then all of a sudden whoosh, bang, chivvy and cut, you can't move for editors.

      I've had a couple edited over the last few months. They seem to concentrate on articles that are already on niche sites.

      I am in the process of updating all of my articles.  I received an email that an updated one had been edited, but when I checked using the view where you can see both the original and the changes, nothing had been changed. 
      
      My point is that there does seem to be at least some editing going on.

         Maybe I'm wrong, but I think those "Congratulations! We've Reviewed Your Article on..." emails when we edit an article just mean they've gone through an automatic checking system which flags any issues, then a real person edits them.  I also noticed typos that have been present for years (e.g. double instances of a word) which neither me nor an editor spotted.

            Sorry, I wasn't clear.  The email was one of the "your article has been snipped" emails meaning they made significant changes.  But when I compared before and after, no changes were made.

      Hi EugBug. Our team is still editing every day We were focused on editing holiday content for a while there, but regular editing has resumed now that we're in the new year. If you haven't seen any edits on your pieces in a while, it may mean that you're doing a great job updating that content on your own!
      
      The automated "Congratulations! We've Reviewed Your Article on..." emails are sent out after articles are inspected (i.e., looked at by one of our editors following changes made by the author) and just mean that nothing harmful has been added. Editors don't proofread the entire article in those cases, but look instead for any new content that may not be appropriate for the site.
      
      Similarly, the automated "Your article has been snipped" emails are usually very short. Snip edits may be performed to remove harmful products or links or to change the title of an article, but no significant editing happens in a snip.

   Editing still happen. But it was not making much sense. The present cadre of editors at HubPages need some re-freshers training to be up-to-date. That can help matter to some degree.

   I remember when any time I looked on my account page, there was some snipping going on. Articles haven't been edited for maybe 6 months or more.

      July seems to be the last time when one was edited. Strangely a few long articles written several years ago have never been edited (one of them is a 4000 word guide from 2012)

         I had a couple edited over the last six months. But impression I get is that this is adhoc, not a standard thing.

   I'm getting edited. I don't believe they've "given up".
   
   That said, I did have a submitted article that took months to be moved to the appropriate niche, which hasn't happened before. However, they did reply promptly when I emailed them about it and were apologetic. It's sorted now.
   
   That delay was an aberration, though, no other differences to normal that I can think of.

   I had a few edits or moves back to HP in early December, but have not seen anything since. I was requested to update an article so it could stay on Pethelpful. Changed it up a few weeks ago and still have not heard anything back about it. Edits seem to be happening much slower and in most cases on one niche site at a time in my experience. I'm assuming when they decide to overhaul a site.

   A big chunk of my articles were edited (or in many cases re-edited) during the months of November and December. Usually when I get one of those emails telling me so-and-so has been edited, I would check on it to see what was fixed/changed, but there were so many coming in that after a while I just gave up, cuz I couldn't keep up!

    It was not that so in the good old days.
    
    My first article snipped got featured. The second land on a niche site. Thanks to those cadre of editors. They know their onions.
    
    OldRoses, don't ever make me lol again. I'm busy editing new stuff.
