Tara Lee Rodas warned the US is the 'middleman' in a trafficking operation

A whistleblower who viewed first-hand what she testified is a "sophisticated network" of child migrant smuggling into forced labor and other forms of slavery is calling on Congress to act to crack down on the U.S. role in that network.

The hearing, "The Biden Border Crisis: Exploitation of Unaccompanied Alien Children," was held by the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security and Enforcement and included Health and Human Services (HHS) whistleblower Tara Lee Rodas as a witness. Rodas, who was detailed with HHS at an Emergency Intake Site in Pomona, California, on Wednesday told lawmakers about what she experienced on the ground.

"I thought I was going to help place children in loving homes. Instead, I discovered that children are being trafficked through a sophisticated network that begins with recruiting in their home country, smuggled to the U.S. border, and ends when [Office of Refugee Resettlement] delivers a child to a sponsor — some sponsors are criminals and traffickers and members of Transnational Criminal Organizations. Some sponsors view children as commodities and assets to be used for earning income — this is why we are witnessing an explosion of labor trafficking," Rodas said.

This is absolutely disgusting, and yeah this is what happens when we have a president that is incapable of averting or solving problems.

Yet, this entire report is being ignored by the left media. Thank God this women step forward, hopefully, more will follow.

Joe Biden has no moral compass, he is truly a deplorable human being.

The Times reported that while HHS checks on all minors by calling them a month after being released to sponsors, data showed that over the last two years, the agency could not reach more than 85,000 of them and lost immediate contact with a third of migrant children.

Yes, one could say the New York Times is not the best source. However, this form of accusation is very serious. One would think they have covered their report with a reliable resource.

This is all on Biden and his inept administration. I love how liberals always divert to Republicans, Trump... This is such a disgrace you should be ashamed of yourself for addressing it with ---

Biden opened the boards, he now has created a problem for children being exploded, being trafficked.  This is such a disgrace to America. And it is "the Biden Bunch" that has created this horrible problem. Can't even imagine the lives these children are now enduring. I have no interest in liberal diversions or blaming the Republicans.

It's up to the Biden administration to clean up this humanitarian mess. he created. He has no empathy or human decency, in my view.

Nothing more to say to you on this subject.  My God how could anyone make any form of excuse for an administration losing 85,000 children...

Enforce the laws on the books about illegal aliens entering the US.

Being children makes it far more difficult (we all have a huge soft spot for children that have no other options), but to simply continue to do nothing while taking in tens of thousands of kids for us to care for is not a viable option.

Thousands of kids have carelessly been lost. These children no longer exist in essence they have disappeared into a huge country.  They are being exposed to all kinds of trafficking. That's this administration, and they need to shut the border until we can fix it.

This president needs to be impeached. Congress is failing us in that respect.

Agreed.  Close the border to one and all - no one admitted regardless of age or condition.

But we won't.  "Humanitarian" concerns will continue to demand it be open, with the result we are seeing with those 85,000 children.  Then inability of the left to predict obvious results from their actions in inexhaustible.

We need to close the borders until we can get some form of control on these numbers, and vet who is coming in. When did we become a Nation that would put up with this kind of president? He ignores problems, and can not do the job.

If he was not a dictator, this never would have happened, in m view. We have immigration laws with actual caps before saying no more. In my view, Your reply is as all your responses blame oriented. Blame anyone but the party. your support. I assume you are offering your honest view. Our views are very different.

"The single-mindedness of people today, the "my side is always right"  stance will be the downfall of us all. "

My gosh, this is funny in light of your inability to respect my view.

I don't feel my view represents one side or the other. Just common sense on an issue.  You are quick to blame Republicans in most incidents. This is well proven by your post. It seems hypocritical to project what you do onto me.

It is very true we need both parties in Washinton to work together. However, my post was about one party, causing a huge historic, horrific problem.

      Update
Bring Child Labor Criminals to Justice
      Friday, April 28, 2023
U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) sent a letter to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray yesterday, demanding a full-scale effort be made to locate the nearly 85,000 migrant children that have gone missing under the Biden administration, while also bringing any child labor criminals holding them in modern-day slavery to justice.

"According to statistics kept by Customs and Border Protection, some 345,000 children have come across the border unaccompanied since early 2021. We now know tens of thousands of these children have been caught up in massive child smuggling and child labor operations," wrote Senator Hawley. "I am sure you have seen recent reports in the New York Times that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has lost touch with as many as 85,000 migrant children. Thousands of these children are now the prey of child labor criminals.

He continued, "The FBI must mount a full-scale effort to locate these missing children and to bring to justice the criminals who are holding them in modern-day slavery. The FBI must also investigate HHS and the Department of Homeland Security for their role in facilitating the exploitation of these children, in violation of the law. This issue must be a leading FBI priority."

Read the full letter here or below.

      April 27, 2023

      The Honorable Christopher A. Wray
      Director
      Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
      935 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
      Washington, D.C. 20535

      Dear Director Wray:

According to statistics kept by Customs and Border Protection, some 345,000 children have come across the border unaccompanied since early 2021. We now know tens of thousands of these children have been caught up in massive child smuggling and child labor operations. I am sure you have seen recent reports in the New York Times that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has lost touch with as many as 85,000 migrant children. Thousands of these children are now the prey of child labor criminals.

The Biden Administration is morally responsible for their fate. The President lifted Title 42 restrictions on unaccompanied children in early 2021. Reporting reveals that HHS loosened vetting processes for sponsors and retaliated against whistleblowers who raised these concerns. As a result, thousands of children have been handed over to modern-day slave traders. They are forced into factory work under punishing conditions. They are forced to make auto parts, process meat in slaughterhouses, and reroof houses. They are denied food, education, and sometimes fear for their lives. They suffer sexual violence. In a country that claims to value the rule of law and the protection of children, this is unconscionable.

The pervasive maltreatment of migrant children plainly violates both the Fair Labor Standards Act, which prohibits the abuse of underage workers, and the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, which designates human trafficking offenses as federal crimes. The FBI must mount a full-scale effort to locate these missing children and to bring to justice the criminals who are holding them in modern-day slavery. The FBI must also investigate HHS and the Department of Homeland Security for their role in facilitating the exploitation of these children, in violation of the law."

This issue must be a leading FBI priority. Please provide my office with a full report on the whereabouts of these children, and of any prosecutions initiated, no later than May 25, 2023.'

An investigation is well needed. It is clear that documents providing the names of children, as well as where they were sent would be needed to make an attempt to locate these children  If a child can't be found, I would assume that if a child has disappeared they need to be located. Congress has no choice, it appears HHS has no idea where thousands of migrant children are located. The FBI needs to make every attempt to locate these children.

He shouldn't run again with that information, neither should 45, are  there any good alternatives?  I would vote for Booker, Or Whitman. I'm a democrat but want my country run by someone capable to protect the innocent.

Losing track of migrant children is a serious issue that can have devastating consequences for their safety and well-being. This is just another example of the incompetence of the current administration.

It is important for our government and organizations to prioritize the protection and care of vulnerable populations, including migrant children.  In my view, strategies to address this issue could include improving tracking systems, increasing resources for child welfare agencies, and providing support and resources for families and children who are seeking asylum or other forms of protection.

Overall, it is essential at this point that all efforts are made to ensure the safety and well-being of the lost migrant children, who are particularly vulnerable to harm and exploitation.

Hopefully, the investigation that Congress has initiated will alert Biden and his administration that needs to take steps to not only correct the current methods that they are using in placing unaccompanied migrant children but also the need to get on board with Congress for the need to have the FBI step in and find the many thousands of missing children.
