Nobody deserves being made Time's Person of the Year more than President Donald Trump.

"For those who believe this is all for the better, Trump’s victory represents a long-overdue rebuke to an entrenched and arrogant governing class; for those who see it as for the worse, the destruction extends to cherished norms of civility and discourse, a politics poisoned by vile streams of racism, sexism, nativism. To his believers, he delivers change—broad, deep, historic change, not modest measures doled out in Dixie cups; to his detractors, he inspires fear both for what he may do and what may be done in his name.

The revolution he stirred feels fully American, with its echoes of populists past, of Andrew Jackson and Huey Long and, at its most sinister, Joe McCarthy and Charles Coughlin. Trump’s assault on truth and logic, far from hurting him, made him stronger. His appeal—part hope, part snarl—dissolved party lines and dispatched the two reigning dynasties of U.S. politics. Yet his victory mirrors the ascent of nationalists across the world, from Britain to the Philippines, and taps forces far more powerful than one man’s message.

We can scarcely grasp what our generation has wrought by putting a supercomputer into all of our hands, all of the time. If you are reading this, whether on a page or a screen, there is a very good chance that you are caught up in a revolution that may have started with enticing gadgets but has now reshaped everything about how we live, love, work, play, shop, share—how our very hearts and minds encounter the world around us. Why would we have imagined that our national conversation would simply go on as before, same people, same promises, same patterns? Perhaps the President-elect will stop tweeting—but only because he will have found some other means to tell the story he wants to tell directly to the audience that wants to hear it."

"For 97 years, the editors of TIME have been picking the Person of the Year: the individual who, for better or for worse, did the most to shape the world and the headlines over the past 12 months."

Yes,  shaped things for the "worse".

Well covered, well said.  I am definitely old school. I would be perfectly fine with getting back to handshakes, eye to eye conversations, listening to what my gut tells me about people, rather than what modern technology tries to convince me is or isn't true about people.

Mike,   First, I have to say the article Trump did with The Times was excellent. It was entirely in his own words and gave clear insight into his thoughts and agenda. If anyone wants to understand where he's coming from, I recommend starting there before the media starts dissecting it into soundbites for those with TDS. Now, onto your point. Several statements stood out to me as capturing why Trump not only won the election but also earned recognition as "Man of the Year." (Honestly, he should have received it in 2020 for how he handled COVID, but I digress.)

One particular statement—a long-overdue rebuke of the entrenched and arrogant governing class—resonates with me because it's exactly why I voted for Trump. For decades, I've been frustrated with the government, and Trump has answers for much of what I've been criticizing. People label him a nationalist, but to me, that simply means someone who unapologetically prioritizes their nation's interests. He challenges what we’ve been conditioned to believe as “truth” and forces us to confront uncomfortable realities. While some are alarmed by his unconventional style, others, like me, see it as necessary to break away from the stale patterns of politics that have failed us.

Trump isn't cut from the same cloth as most leaders, and that’s unsettling for some. But for those who’ve been yearning for real change, he represents an opportunity to shake things up. Sure, it’s a gamble, but it’s one I’m willing to take. For those resistant to this shift, buckle up—you’re in for history-making change, whether you like it or not. That’s my take.

      Shar,

There have been 13 presidents who have been Time's Person of the Year and President Donald Trump is the first to have been chosen twice.

You cannot argue that he has changed the political landscape in the United States forever.  There is even a mental disorder (TDS) now associated with him.  He is the most consequential president of our lifetime.

I don't expect the left to understand the magnitude of his accomplishments.  Most are not in touch with reality enough appreciate how President Donald Trump will be an inspiration to people for generations.  He is the one of the best examples of focus, determination, courage, relentless pursuit in his core beliefs that can be found in the modern era.

The left will only continue to purse their identity politics and wonder why they are going nowhere.

I agree—Trump's impact on the political landscape is undeniable, and his accomplishments will continue to inspire many for generations. His focus, determination, and courage set him apart in a way that few leaders in the modern era can match. The left's fixation on identity politics only highlights their disconnect from the bigger picture. I am so happy to be alive and sharing this historic time in our history.

Sometimes its hard to encapsule the difference between Biden (Harris) and Trump...

But sometimes I come across something that hits it on the head, without hitting you over the head...

But she was never a "border czar"   these things are so disingenuous

That clip was certainly shocking. Watching her act so bizarrely and laugh inappropriately was unsettling. It's hard to find the right words to express my thoughts about her, as I believe it would be inappropriate, but it's clear that she has failed in her career, both as Vice President and in other roles. To be honest, I never really noticed her much in the first 3.5 years of her tenure, until she tried to run for president in 2020 but dropped out early due to poor polling.

I distinctly remember the day Biden appointed her to handle the border, but then it was like she vanished from the public eye.

Hey, we have a great strong man in Homen taking on the job. I am so pleased to see him handling deportation, and I think he will do a great job.

Here is the video when Joe put Harris in charge of the immigration issue. He was very clear when he appointed her to handle migration problems.

harris did nothing.  Absolutely nothing.  People in the biden administration, as well as the media at the time, referred to her as the border czar. Whatever she was supposed to do she didn't do and the border became a crisis.

The left has to stop playing their semantics games.  They don't see how weak it makes them look.

What the media named her is irrelevant.  When was she ever called "border czar" by Biden?  Please provide a citation.

The term crisis - a condition of instability or danger, as in social, economic, political, or international affairs, leading to a decisive change.

            Does that really fit?

The changes made they meant to make, they were deliberate.

Biden rescinded Trump's efforts on day 1.

Biden signed on to the UN Global Compact on Migration on day 1.

They used government aps to help schedule their flights to America.

Federal funding goes to NGOs that provide money, shelter, food to migrants.

All the above authorized by the Biden Administration... not Trump.

The numbers escalated until it reached a 'political crises' for them heading into the 2024 election, and even then they scripted an act where they stated they were trying to 'fix the border' but the Republicans in Congress were stopping them.... Trump was stopping them.

If they were in control come 2025... the numbers of migrants being brought in would continue to break records.

Please don't go there, she failed at that billions were given. We have seen and many have lived her ass clown ideas. You frequently get yourself in deeper due to Google U. This administration has historic numbers to prove their failed policies on immigration. Thank goodness he did not label her a czar. LOL  She was the czar at hiding.

Please provide some factual foundation to the allegations that Harris was appointed "border czar"

As far as "historic numbers". Our immigration law allows for people to claim asylum with no cap on the number that do so.    Biden didn't create the law.

How about you do your homework?  I will share my view, and it is my right, and I will be blunt. And again it is my view alone  I find your thought processes opposite of my own. I can't even respect your point of view anymore. Sorry. Anyone who can defend such problematic issues with excuses, and ignore all else to me has a problem.  Biden did not do anything, period.

Biden never put Harris in charge of border security. It is clearly documented that she was tasked with addressing the root causes of migration from Central America.  The facts back that up.

And at this point, that's a "look here not there".

I, along with millions of Americans are laser focused on this...

The clip also proves why it is a good idea to ignore political You Tube. It is edited to emphasize the authors point of view while ignoring counter evidence.

I have always wondered why one person's physical deficits are the source of vitriol from another person.

Its the entire tone... the difference is monumental... beyond mere words...

        The difference is like:

        Oh what can we do?

Nothing really... a wall won't stop the cartels...

Its beyond our control... and its racist ... and we don't really need nations anymore anyways... the people coming here have more rights to what we have in America than American citizens do, really, when think about it.

        VS.

We will build a wall, we will increase our Border Patrol force, we enforce the border, we will deport non-citizens here illegally, we will destroy the cartels wherever they are, there is no place on earth safe for them.

Our citizens will be protected, our nation's borders will be respected, those that don't respect our laws and borders will be treated like criminals, without exception, without concern for "rights" or "humane treatment" they have forfeited their rights.

Human trafficking will be stopped, those profiting from it will be destroyed.

        Big difference...

The first is the mindset of failure... its suicidal, destructive, demoralizing.

The second is the mindset of a nation that MIGHT survive and make things better for its citizens and its future.

Ken, the difference is we have an administration that has done nothing but sit on their hands, and drool.  We now will have an administration that gets things done and makes it all look pretty dam easy.  Steel versus tissue paper.

            Nah...

The Biden Administration was working for the UN/WEF and Neocons... and Progressives... what an ugly misfit collection...

To recreate America... unburdened by what has been.

The UN's goal of a One World Government, with no borders, like the EU... with nation states that are toothless and weak, their people all but powerless to change it.  The EU is a government that does not answer to the people or care about what they want or believe.

They may have pushed us into a global war unlike anything we have seen, where civilization may be torn down by the end of it all...

They didn't sit on their hands and drool... they worked diligently to move America to where it is now... with more than 10 million new migrants... with a world war spreading further daily... none of it is by accident.

And no, it's clear that nothing they did was accidental. Now, we have an administration with a clear vision for America, and we’ll ensure the right people are in the right positions. This time around, nothing will be left to chance.

All of this seems factual, but it’s clear we’ve rejected the ideologies the Democrats have been pushing. Yes, there are still many who haven't woken up to the reality of the situation, but, as I've said before, Americans are a special breed—at least most of us are. In my view, there was a cabal, and we know who they are, but they’ve been pushed to the sidelines and dismissed as fools. We’ve always had extremists, but Americans thrive on being different, on preserving our rights, and, frankly, on feeling superior. Most of us wouldn't embrace the EU's kind of madness. This past election has crushed their agenda, and I can see Trump essentially burying what's left of it. We're pulling out of organizations that flirt with One World Order nonsense. This will be a defining moment in our history when we see patriotism rise from the ashes. If you look closely, you'll notice many on the left are abandoning the craziness and now want to be part of the new path we’re on—a path to rebuild America and leave much of globalism behind. This is how I see it.

Hey, you predicted Harris would win... Time to start enjoying the fact we won, and now have the chance to right the ship. Keep the faith.

We can't enjoy the fact that your side won. We are too busy preparing for the oncoming inflation and major recession that will result from Trump's policy proposals as well as the retaliation from the rest of the world as Trump begins his war with our allies.
