Janis, great article. I paid attention to you sharing personal experience and using it with clients. Loved the poem expressing not only feelings, yet unexplained personal truths seeking their revelations.
Question . . . from your personal experience of the dream world is fear more common than happiness? Is fear felt a hint to pay attention?
Years back I played with lucid dreaming. I read methods for causing that state to occur. I mention this only because I have been with so much fear in a dream I consciously forced myself to awaken to escape it. Being within the dream state consciously I would say, "Wake Up!!". And, I would.
Thanks for reading, tsmog, so glad you enjoyed the poem. I think it depends on what's going on in one's life whether there is more fear in dreams or happiness in dreams. I have mostly good dreams with the occasional scary stuff. Most of my dreams are neutral, nothing extreme, just the goings on of the day. I have used the "wake up" method to get out of bad dreams. I have also been conscious that I'm dreaming a good dream and want to stay there for as long as I can. Thanks for the questions and discussion.
Janis...
You are so right when you say that dreams rarely make sense.
If we are lucky enough to wake up and remember them...we are usually stuck trying to figure out what the heck it means.
Your poem about Dream Analysis ~ "In Life's Dreams" paints a clear picture of how we feel when we wake up from a dream.
We only remember bits n pieces and try desperately to go back to sleep...hoping to get the full story.
Sadly it doesn't work and we're left grasping for a meaning.
We recall being lost in unfamiliar places, dealing with all kinds of trouble, and feeling unsafe.
Yet this fear awakens us....so we take a bathroom break as we try to think about the details of our nightmare.
I love the quote by Marsha Norman ~ the Fortune teller.
"Dreams are illustrations...
from the book your soul is writing about you."
You did an excellent job on this piece.
I posted a link in the word prompt article.
This is an excellent article and poem by Janis, in response to the prompt "Dreams." Thank you for sharing this Brenda.
Janis, I guess many could relate to your poetry about "dreams". If not all, I could relate to some of the incidents and it's scary. Very adeptly composed, and I loved it. I hope your desire of becoming a "Dream Analyst" does come out to be true some day. Wish you all the very best.
Thanks for sharing Janis' work, Brenda.
Hello Janis,
Good to read another wonderful post from you. I enjoyed reading your response to Brenda’s word prompt, Dreams. I do dream a lot, but rarely remember them, once I am awake. However, dream analysis and interpretation sounds very interesting to me.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful poem.
Thank you Brenda.

Brenda has a new word prompt for us, but she has very sad news to share. Ron has passed on. She will be taking a break for a few weeks. But she still gives us a prompt to work on. She still gives highlights of fellow writers' responses to the previous word prompt, "Respect." Let us show...
