Soul mates vs Love or infactuation

   whats the difference? how do you know you have found your soul mates?

      Well first of all, i truly believe that when people fall in love, nobody can tell you if you are.  You'll just know it when it hits you, as one other person alluded to on this forum.  however, to answer your question, i'll be blunt about it.
      
      From what people have told about soul mates, its supposed to be your perfect match.  websters dictionary describes soul mates as:
      
      1 : a person who is perfectly suited to another in temperament
      2 : a person who strongly resembles another in attitudes or beliefs <ideological
      
      I strongly disagree as I don't believe there is such a thing.  Even with people that i know in successful relationships, often have their ups and downs at times.  However, they still manage to work it out in the end. 
      
      As for infactuation, thats nothing more than a crush.  something that happens whenever a kid thinks he's in love with his teacher or something like that.  there just merely infactuated by the person, without even knowing much about them other than appearance.  Which is another reason why I think love at first sight is impossible as well.
      
      However, I digress, thats not to say feelings of infactuation can't evolve into love over time.  you see my theory about love is this.  when two people meet, if there is indeed a connection, they feel a sense of infactuation for each other at first.  then as they get to know each other and possibly more intimate, those feeling evolve into love.  although, i could be wrong since i've been in only like 3 relationships in my life, and they didn't last longer than a month.  however, i hope that helps answer your question.

   I believe, you just know. It's like Love if you have to ask then it's not it. I am not sure what the difference is but if I had to guess I would say Loving someone doesn't neccessarily mean you will be together, but soul mate..... that's the one you should end up with. I don't think there is only ONE either.... but hey don't take my word as gospel I'm currently single........

   Years ago I read a good book that analyzed all types of love.  I haven't been able to find it since, and I don't even recall the exact title.  It addressed all the different types of love there are, romantic and otherwise.  The point is love is about caring deeply about someone else, doesn't have to be "romantic love", and (this is my description) "feels bigger than the universe".
   
   Infatuation is the thing that most romantic love starts with.  It's the thing that makes you hyperventilate and generally feel high.  It has been compared to a cocaine high, because your brain chemicals do a certain set of things that make it all "so exciting and wonderful".  Infatuation may or may not change into a deeper, more comfortable, closer, kind of love.  Some people keep the feeling that they're "in love", even if it's calmer.  Others find they don't feel "in love" any more but care very deeply about the other person.
   
   People have different definitions for "soul-mate".  Wikipedia has quickie paragraph that describes them.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soulmate    Not in the Wiki. definition but elsewhere, it has been said that people don't have to have romantic relationships to feel like someone is a soul-mate.  Some people put a metaphysical-type definition/root to the term, but others just have the feeling "on an Earthly" level.
   
   Some people call being in a super-solid, super-good, relationship "being soul-mates"; but people who know what it feels like know that some people use the term too loosely, and that there is no question about it when one experiences it.
