Who is Your Favorite Author?

   I grew up in the hay-day of science fiction so my obvious answer should be Asimov or Bradbury. But its not I will have to say the hard sifi of David Brin is my favorite.

      Have you read Louis mcmaster bujold?  My boyf's a big fan of science fiction and he loves it.
      
      It depends on the season for me - Jane Austen is good in all weathers though and I love anything with animals - James Herriot and Richard Adams' Watership Down is ah! I love it!

         Koontz!...not to insult people's particular tastes, but Koontz?? Stephen King is king when it comes to fantasy thrillers, and while Koontz has had some memorable characters (such as Odd Thomas) there really is no comparison!

         I'll agree with most of that but I have swap Jane Austen for Oscar Wilde. And now I'm off to find out about James Baldwin because I've never heard of him. Ooh I just remembered HG Wells, Jules Verne, Robert Heinlein I could go on all night

    Hi, it has got to be Diane Gabaldon, if you have'nt read her books you are missing out on a whole world of brilliance, she has written about eight books in her series about a woman who travels back through time, and meets jamie fraser a scotsman, at the time of culloden. it does'nt seem like reading a book, it really should be made into a film. once you start you won't be able to stop.

    Always have loved Dean Koontz novels ! George Orwell .And I have probably read everything by John Grisham and James Patterson .As far as classic authors I love Mark Twain and his humor .

    One of the greatest story tellers is Louis L'amour. What is surprising he has not only written westerns; but mystery, historic novels and short stories.  Hats off to Louis!
