I have some sympathy and our teams are rivals!!!  Time will probably heal things.  Maybe a new coach.  #1 draft pick?  Terrible or not they seem to be able to beat GB in Detroit most years.  Not lately but...  I feel for you though.  I remember the Lynn Dickey years.  Not pretty.

In French soccer is called "le foot". Pretty succinct and to the point; pointing out which part of the anatomy soccer is *actually* played with. Of course, in the land of freedom fries, I realize this may not carry much weight sad

In America A Frenchman is called Le polesmoker, beginning to see what I think about Europe?

I'm not sure what a polesmoker is, to tell you the truth, but of course, the ultimate revenge is that Brits refer to *all* Americans as "Yankees" -- including Texans smile

(Oh, maybe I just figured out what a polesmoker is...)

The name "football" (American or otherwise) has nothing to do with what appendage touches the ball the most.

I would watch it but ESPN puts on poker and dog shows instead of CFL these days.  I miss Aussie Football too.

What might make Soccer interesting to Americans is if while David Beckham is pushing the ball around a 350 pound man with 4.4 speed just ran up to him and took his legs out from under him! Then repeated that about 35-40 times I bet Soccer would have a better following in the US. Until then, its a sport for children who drink juice from a bag.

I edit after I publish -- not smart really.
I didn't see the movie, and am not South African, so unqualified to answer. As long as it doesn't sink to Dick van Dyke Mary-Poppins cockney, I guess I'm good

I saw your edit, just trying to educate in case you didn't know! Americans should never do accents the British are much better at pretending to be American than Americans are at pretending to be Brits! Maybe the British want it more?

I hate to say it, but I've seen Gwyneth Paltrow and Renee Zellweger do pretty good accents in movies. What grates me, speaking of South Africa is that Charlize Theron just did the FIFA World Cup draw, as a representative of South Africa... with an American accent. I mean, if you're going to represent your own country... annoying

I am sorry for all those Steelers fans, but go dolphins. Look the dolphins have been struggling the whole season with injuries and mishaps. First Pennington goes down then Brown. They lost to the undefeated colts by a game winning touchdown with only seconds to play. And lets not even get started with all the games they screwed up in the fourth quarter. I know that you can say. "Well that's just the game of football" or "No one is perfect", but they were up by over 20 points to the saints and blew the game. If the dolphins can hold up with their lineup and win out the rest of their games, they have the wildcard in the bag. After the Jaguars losing a couple of minutes ago the Dolphins now control their own destiny and guess who stands in the way week 17. THE STEELERS, so as of right now I HATE THEM smile

Then hopefully you will enjoy watching The Packers taking them down!!!  Although, this game worries me.  I think it will be the Steelers 5th loss in a row which may have never happened to them before or hasn't happened since they wore leather helmets or something.  Pitt at home.  Packers favored by a lot.  I've seen this setup before and it usually doesn't go Green Bay's way.  I hope it does but... ack - seen it go sour too often.  Big game for the packer season but maybe a bigger game for the steeler pride?

Steelers proved they wanted that win.  Heartbreaker but hats off to Ben and friggin Wallace - who I dropped on my fantasy team.  I might want to go back and get him if I make the fantasy bowl.  Need Ganther of the Redskins to not score.

I didn't like the feel of the game from before kickoff.  Steelers losing their 6th and at home?  Didn't seem likely.  Seemed kinda likely with 45 seconds to go but.... NOT.

          The agony of defeat.
