basic needs are not met like food -- this is very important
clothing housing and love, emotional care
Being unloved. Loving families have got through horrendous poverty, but the child who is unloved is starved emotionally. That's truly awful.
Being unloved by those who should love them and abuse in any form.
Agree, abuse in any form, especially emotional and physical.
Being abused and mistreated at home by their parents and/or family
I agree. often their greatest danger is in their own home.
if not and they are lucky and fortunate, the greatest danger can be online or across the street.
as someone else also mentioned, ignorance. children need to be nurtured and taught, and taught how to think and make good choices, it doesn't just happen.
In terms of their health, I will agree with food. I will also put it to you that children need some place green in which to kick a ball around, fly a kite, play cricket, whatever. In some places in the western world parks are shrinking, even disappearing. This not having a place to hang out and smell the grass isn't good for either their mental health or physical health. Obesity can best be tackled when the child is young and kicking a ball around is fun.
Bad Parents are the most dangerous thing to kids. Anyone can have a kid but not anyone makes a good parent.
Once a parent... a parent for life...
Abondonment through abuse (physical, emotional, verbal) delivered at the hands of their "family" (parents, siblings, extended family).
being unloved, abuse emotinal or physical and not getting proper education

My parents used to hit me as a child, but did that mean they were bad parents? I got smacked across the face and all over my body.

If you give birth to a defective child, would you consider giving it away ?Or, if you choose to keep it, will you neglect it ? If this child is your first born, will you get pregnant a second time ? Will your second child get preference over the first if it is healthier?
