Just thought it might help some of us to meet here and discuss our addictions to the forums and share tips for how to get past it.  I have had some success in reducing my time in the forums by playing 7 Wonders 2 for hours at a time, but this is probably not the best solution!

    Help!

i don't feel very anonymous. hmm

hey, i was in here (even if i wasn't posting) much of the day for a few weeks.
i got a horrible virus and it (my pc) was out of commission for a day and it like, reset my internet jones.

my solution for internet OR hubpages addiction is lots of downloads *coughPORNcough* which leads to a virus which inevitably leads to taking an 'puter break. whether i like it or not. wink

and for the record. noooot my porn. ;P

I have cut back a lot myself by forcing myself to stay off of them. I am going to do it again so I can finish editing my story as well as write the tons of hubs I have racing around in my head big_smile one of them is gonna be a short story big_smile

The one thing that will always lure me away from the forums is food - but that is putting on pounds and pounds!  I know I need to exercise will power and just walk away from it, but its always "just one more post here to tell Maximus he's a big >>>>" and then I'll write.  See its here on the computer and whenever I get stuck with other things I go to the forums!  arrrrrgh.

rules should apply - like what happens in HPAA stays in HPAA!  haha - anonymity is built in if you don't use your real name.

so - has posting on the forums addiction gotten in the way of the rest of your life, like it does with me sometimes?  I mean I don't get other things that could be lucrative done!

I was addicted when I first joined, now I check it through out the day when I'm not busy, but not everyday - like before!

When I first joined it was more addictive because it was way more fun and that seems to have disappeared, along with a lot of the fun people.

My advice is don't get attached to any one hubber - here today and gone tomorrow sad

Well, that simply shows that you really don't want to finish your stuff you're working on.

Again, your focus is wrongly prioritized. Shame on you. hmm

I know with other addictions there is a period of de-tox and withdrawal of 28 days at least when you are not allowed access to the substance you have been abusing.  So that means I would have to take off a whole month from the forums and just write hubs in word or something and post later - by then everyone will have forgotten me and if I go on the hubs it would be different!  Maybe I'll try it.  I will definitely be taking 4 days off for a vacation the begining of March, a true vacation, I will be taking notes for hubs but not writing and not working my other job.  But I don't think 4 days will be long enough.  We shall see.  So right now I'm going to go take at least 2 hours away from here (and not on the computer)- will I be able to?  I don't know - wish me luck!

OK - I managed to stay away from the forums for 2 hours and 36 minutes!  I think that's fabulous!  I only ate one small bag of microwave popcorn and 6 cashews!  this is a record for me - possibly a world record for an addict!   whooohooo!

hokey, this is not a sex forum - this is a very serious HPAA meeting place where we only discuss our addiction - nobody is going to get off with you - you rawnchy dude!
