Religious organizations provide 93.2 billion dollars!

   Religion does have an up side, way up! 36% of all charitable funds from any source any where! I couldn't find any organizations that were atheist run charities. Now those numbers are real proof of the power of God!

   And, I suppose you actually think that's good?
   
   $93.2 billion? By the time those who got their cut of the pie, that so-called "revenue for charity", to help others is dwindled down to about $4 Billion, which accounts for very little assistance on an overall scale.
   
   And, just to make myself clear - even the $93.2 Billion, without anything cut up and given others, still isn't anywhere CLOSE enough to providing substantial assistance. The problem is close to $5+ Trillion, which continues to increase when global pricing goes up.
   
   So, in the end of the day, religion isn't really helping anything, but themselves.

      Maybe so, but its still something.  I don't know how you could see this as anything but pretty darned good.  Religion has its problems for sure, but this is definitely an upside as Sneak pointed out.

      Some is better than none.
      Agreed, however, that overall, it may be woefully short.
      
      Personally, I'm very glad for the good that religion does bring with it, but that's the problem with most things--it's not all one way or the other. It's always a mix. While I'm not at all religious any more, it was actually the effect of religion in my family's life that probably saved me from death of severe abuse as a child.
      
      Religion isn't all bad, and indeed, on many subjects, is just plain bad news.
      
      And I have to agree with Golden that a grass roots campaign, independent of any organization is often the most effective way to extend help. Such bypassing allows us to establish our independence of the effects of organizations riddled with bull-pucky.

   Great point Sneaks!  Your a real Texas cowboy with heels on. I do submit that many people from all walks of life and beliefs contribute to charity.  I am, however, glad that you have given way to support that religious organizations do, indeed, contribute heavily to charitable causes.
   
   A few years ago I felt prompted to head up a community project to put together school packs to send over to our servicemen in Iraq.  They, in turn, provided them to the native children there.  A few months later we did get word back along with photos of the children receiving the packs.  It truly warmed the heart.  What we scarcely can comprehend is that each act of kindness has snowballing effect.  These children were happy with their packs.  Yet, down the road they may teach their own children to not judge the Americans too harshly.  The virus of kindness can manifest itself in any number of ways.  It's a joy to see, witness and participate in.

      One can only hope, goldenpath, that these children remember the acts of kindness.  There's enough anti-Americans out there, including Americans in this country who are only too eager to give these kids a one-sided view of life and a prejudice against Americans.

         That is so true, Flightkeeper, that hidden agendas run rampant in pinning people against the United States.  It's as I have always said.  The walls of pride run thick and are getting thicker for some.  It is at the root of the basic problems we have - globally.  Until this is breached on a "personal choice" level we will eventually submit to the galls of bitterness and be left without even the integrity to stand on our own two feet.
