I just read on ehow that some people are earning more than 50$ a day with around 250 articles. Is anyone earning so much here? I mean, the work here is more in writing when compared to ehow.

I find that how to articles are much more difficult to write than other articles. They may look shorter but it takes longer to write them

This is true.  I have done a few how to articles here on HubPages and these take at least a day to put together.  I have not tried ehow, but perhaps I will.

Hubpages has a huge amount of potential for you to make money! I mean, come on $50 could be one sale to a high priced sale on eBay for your commission! Hubpages, unlike eHow, leaves a more diverse offering for the writer to write about. On eHow, all that is is How-To articles. If you can write 250 Detailed, Helpful, and Well Visited How-To articles you deserve a lot more then $50 a day. That is a tremendous feat for anyone to accomplish. If you want My Review on Hubpages, search in the Hubpages Search: Hubpages Review by Thranax.

I'm sure that will help you see that Hubpages is well worth it.

Ehow is great if you are American, but they don't pay any one else.

Ehow earning is only for US citizens. Pls check if you are or not. I have just signed ehow and

submitted an article "how to learn?"
I am not an US citizen so I can not earn from it but that does not matter.

I have got a letter from adsense that my total earning in adsense has crossed $10!!
Why should I bother for an amount which I pay my employees on hourly basis.

      Writing is fun. Enjoy it.

    Thanks,

I write on both, and have about the same amount of work at both. When you add in eBay, Amazon, Google Adsense, and Kontera I make a little more with Hubpages then with eHow. However, ehow articles are very easy to write.

I suggest that anyone serious about making money with their online writing write at several good sites because this provides variety for your writing as well as more security. If you wake up one day to find one of your sites gone forever (sadly it does happen) and you were making hundreds or more from that site it will hurt a lot. If you think you want to write for eHow (and are American because sadly they don't pay contributors from other countries) then write for both. The types of articles and how they are written are very different and all in all you can make quite a lot of money from the variety of sites.

Although, HowToDoThings is a site that does pay people from all over. It is tied with HubPages as my top money earner, although HubPages is slowly becoming number 1.

I am going off topic but can anyone suggest any other writing sites for money?

Personally, I don't recommend any writing sites for money - I explain why in my Hub on
Make Money Online: Article Writing Sites

Any site where you post articles, rather than sell them, is not likely to be a big money-spinner unless you're very good at it.  HubPages is by far the best I've come across, which is why I'm still here!

I thought you were here because I was sad

But to stay on topic,  Hubpages seems to be the best for making money period. Or at least how I see it. I wanted to try those "Sell your essays etc" sites but there is so much competition you might spend 40 hours writing 50 essays but when you get only $10 from one sale in the next 40 hours it seems clear that making money overtime, even if you do nothing, is better then wasting your time for something no one will buy or will take months to sell.

I wouldn't write for an essay selling service anyway, I am morally against it smile

Me too, I think they're reprehensible.   PJGrundy has some good Hubs on her experiences with freelance writing, which is a more sensible way to write for sale.  But that's where HubPages also scores, because it's a good place to build a portfolio, to showcase your work.  While a potential buyer may be focussing on your words, the subliminal effect of a good layout and supporting images can't be discounted.

That's what I'm doing, building a portfolio. I'm also writing for sites that are more about writing; BellaOnline and Suite 101. They teach you to write for the web properly and do have some credibility.

I was attracted to BellaOnline but they have a restricted range of subjects - which I think is a good idea, but none of them interest me right now.

I also looked at Suite101 but have never been able to find any concrete information on likely earnings.  I have seen a few people post that the earnings are "hopeless" and that was enough to put me off!

eHow articles are easier to write as they are to follow certain formats. There seems to be less interaction between users. If you live overseas, you don't get paid.
For further information, refer to this:

The part that takes more time is if you are buying materials for a craft.  Since I take all of my own pictures this also takes coordinating, and stopping and starting.  However, yes the format does make it easier on the ehow site for writing how to articles.
