What to do about these comments?

Occasionally I receive comments from someone who has a link in their name which usually takes you to a commercial site of some sort.  I just received one which, when clicked on, gives a warning that it may be a trick of some sort.

What is the best thing to do in this case, or should we always deny these type comments?

Deny, mark as spam, delete forever. Spammers deserve nose parasites.

I'm with William on this one.

Had to reply because I'd never heard of nose parasites before, but I think they'd be a fine addition for any & all spammers.

Me too, Pylos.  I've never deleted any other comments, even those which are critical to my hubs.  I had rather give my reasons for stating things as I do or learn by my mistakes.

Wow sneako, don't you ever get tired of being wrong?  I have 5 shotguns, 4 rifles, 3 pistols and this isn't counting my antique weapons or those belonging to my wife.

I probably have almost as many firearms as you have wives!  LOL

Sneako, I can vouch for Randy's guns - he has a big one, too. I've seen it.

Does that make him a 2nd Amendment pinko?? lol

If the site is an OK site, I always accept those comments.  After all, I go to other people's blogs and leave comments with a link in my name to my HubPage - so what goes around, comes around.

However, if the site is dubious in any way, I spam the comment.

I have been deleting them unless they are from a fellow hubber leading to a related hub.
Maybe I should report the ones I delete. smile

I agree with you that is all you need to do if the link is in a comment. I believe that HubPages would automatically put the link in their 'little black book' of 'bad sites' !

Remember Detroit's own Alan Ralsky? The Godfather of Spam, the original master spammer...

He was the victim of an analog DNS attack.

He mentioned in an interview with the Detroit News that he had recently bought a house in a suburban area. Oooops.
Somebody figured out his address and posted it on line.

The US Postal service was suddenly very busy in the West Bloomfield area... people nationwide signed him up for every mailing list, free catalog, and information request they could find. He was getting hundreds of pounds of junk mail a day - they were literally delivering his mail to him with a truck. He couldn't find his real mail in all the mess.

    Revenge on the spammer:
    Internet vigilanteism at its finest.

He's still serving his time by the way, but I don't know which prison. Maybe I can find his address  wink
