When I mentioned to my wife my intention of writing an article about a wonderful and historical hotel, she sprang into action.  She contacted the establishment and wangled a 50% reduction in the price of a great room.

She told the manager I was going to write about the place and was transferred to the sales department.  They requested a sample of my writing and fortunately I had an article which filled the bill.

My article was #2 beneath theirs on the first page of Google, so this helped quite a bit.  I doubt this would work very frequently but it is worth a try.

Besides getting a very expensive room at half price I expect to make a few bucks on the article too.  A win-win situation in my book.

My wife is a haggler from hell when she gets going!

Can't complain too much, Lynne.  Going through a terrible bout of vertigo at the moment but it will clear up when the pollen dissipates somewhat.  Thanks for asking.

have you already taken your trip to see Pinky?

This same strategy worked for me a couple of years ago on a trip to Anna Maria Island. Try it! All they can say is no!
