0Here I can help you - it is creating a piece of content that other people are likely to link to. Like - umm - a quiz "How dumb is your ex" or something like this.
Nah, you can call it a click bait prolly, but that's pretty much it.
Link bait is a page on your site that people in quantities link to voluntarily - post on forums and blogs, bookmark, etc - so you don't have to build backlinks yourself. You hub can qualify too

So what does it take to get noticed around here.....
It seems to me if I promote my hubs here I will be shafted - but if I don't you will never know about me. And if you don't know me now (after two years) - you may never know me ever! So I'm not promoting my hubs - I'm merely promoting "me"! To know me is to love me - or vice versa. Anyway...

Things aren't so bad around here
I just discovered that yesterday was my highest earning day (in both the HP program and AdSense) since I've been with the site. I was almost ready to take a break from writing here, but this gives me hope to keep going. I hope others are finding similar earnings.

I just wrote a really helpful hub for mechanics on the finer art of setting valve clearances on overhead camshaft motors and haven't had a single comment!Am I the only mechanical nerd left on hubpages or indeed on planet earth?
