New Super Mario Brothers Wii Walkthrough: World 6
Not the part of the New Super Mario Brothers Wii Walkthrough that you are looking for? No problem! Here is the other chapters.
Once again, you will be in a world where monsters spit out spiked balls. Soon you will come to some cannons, and the best way to get rid of them is to jump on top of them and onward.
After the first set of cannons, there are two moving yellow platforms, one going up and one going down. After this will be an area with a turtle and a spiked ball monster. You will need an Ice Flower, which should be provided by the ? block there in front of the turtle. That, or a Penguin Suit.
Anyway, free the turtle, and then jump on the ice form to freeze the spiked-ball monster. Jump atop the spiked ball monster and get the First Star Coin.
As you go on, you will come to another area with two moving platforms, one going up and one going down. In between them is the Second Star Coin. It is very easy to get.
You will notice that you can work your way backwards and go to the left from those platforms, and jump to some platform, then to another one with a green pipe. This will lead you to an area where you can hit the big P and then Blue Coins will appear. You can then slide the ice cubes to collect the coins.
You will soon get to a point with a small oval ring, and it is easy to collect the 8 copper coins for a bonus.
By the way, you will come to an area where there are four of these spiked-ball spitter monsters in a row. If you wall jump, you can take out the three on the right, and you can jump to find a 1UP in this area.
From here, it is on to the flag, but you don’t have the Third Star Coin yet! It is up from the platforms just before the flag, really. A Propeller hat may be just what the doctor ordered. That, or bounce off some bullets to get some altitude. Anyway, it will be there.
This is one of those subtarrean worlds where you need to watch out for the spiked things that fall from the ceiling. Fortunately, you can use them to kill things like chomper plants, provided you jump on them and grab them.
For example, there is one spot where there is a brick block, and you can faintly see the First Star Coin. You’ll need to take one of these spiked guys and use it to get rid of the brick. Then you have to stop the shell, and slide in to get this coin located inside this cave.
There is one area that you can time perfectly to get a 1UP. Just let the shell come at you, and jump over it. It will go to the right, and then hit a brick block to release a 1Up. You have to really get this right.
You will then come to a point where the Second Star Coin is in the air. You can get it by Ice Flowering the Chomper plant inside the green pipe. If you really want to do it the hard way, lure some bats into the area, and jump on them to make stairs to it.
You will come to an area where there are a lot of bats on to large spinning wheels. My advice is get the Invulnerability star from the second ? block, and take out all the bats in the vicinity. Then, on the second wheel, wait for a green pipe to appear. Take that pipe to an even more underground place. The P-Switch will turn all the brick blocks into coins, so you can get the Third Star Coin.
The only obstacle in the way for now is two hammer brothers, who can be taken out with a POW.
Okay, here is an area full of bad Chompers. It helps to have a Fire Flower. You will notice the ? area, and that will flood the room. There is a ? block located near the second big chomper. It has a Fire Flower if you are Bigger Mario.
Take out the first big Chomper, though. There is a brick block with a 1UP in it for you.
You will also notice a Chomper underneath the First Star Coin. Take him out and then do a wall-jump to get it. You can use three fire-flower bursts or a Beetle thing.
You will see the Second Star Coin as you go, also with a Chomper. Take out the Chomper and get the coin.
You will soon get to an area with lots of Chomper plants. You will see two open areas here, and one will be bricked off. The one open area can be wall-jumped up to some place with coins an a ? block with a bonus. The one on the right has to be broken, and then wall-jumped ump to get the Third Star Coin.
In this world, it is simple to obtain the First Star Coin. It is located after the Yoshi Egg. You should encounter a Propeller hat with a ? mark that is before it. This Star Coin will be marked by a stack that leads to it.
If you keep going up, and then back to the left, there is three blocks in a row. You can get them here, and one in the middle is a P-Switch that makes a row of coins. If you do it right on a Yoshi, you should be able to get them all.
Just past this point is two stony pillars. Atop the one on the right is an invisible block that will get you a 1UP.
The Second Star Coin is located directly after the Midway flag, and you will need a Propeller hat to get to it. Just run off the edge of this cliff here and then use the Propeller hat to get to a green pipe. You’ll be in an underground place, so go and grab the POW, slam it on the ground, and you’ll get the Star Coin and a whole bunch of coins.
As for the Third Star Coin, it is located after a series of ledges that are in some caves. I believe it is on the first set, just above the one on the right. Propeller hat up there and you will find yourself in a secret cave, and you will find the Star Coin and a bunch of other coins.
Nothing to do now but beat the level with the Propeller hat. Be sure to get the top of the flagpole for a 1UP.
This one is all about avoid a deadly drill that comes up on the first part, then down on the second part. You have to jump across while it is away. I suggest waiting until it is on its way down and then going forward.
When you get up to near the top of this area, there is a yellow platform moving back and forth between two Dry Bones located up and down. Just below where the platform ends is an indentation is a Mario sized indentation in the wall, go there by sliding down the left wall and get the First Star Coin in this secret passage.
After using the bounce-able bricks to get up higher, you will be at the Midway point. The only way to get the Second Star Coin is to wall-jump, provided that the Drill is safely out to the way, that is.
You can then get yourself to the top. The pipe here doesn’t lead to anything secret, for they are cannons to shoot you to the other side. Make sure the way is clear before you use them.
You will notice the ledges will retract. If you jump as it does, it will be retracted before you land. Just a little something to make it difficult.
Now, that Third Star Coin is found just at the top. You will need to stay to the right and do a lot of wall jumps to get it, though.
Eventually, you will get to the door. You will notice a ? block to the left of it. If you stand atop this block and jump, you will find yourself another ? block. If you can wall jump high enough, you will find a green pipe. Using this green pipe will lead to all sorts of coins and other things. Try it, but it is difficult to get to. Make sure you have enough time to defeat the bad guy!
Now you have to face off with Morton Koopa Jr.. He seems difficult, as his attacks are vicious, and there are drills on the sides of him. The key is to hit him, and flee to the side where the drill isn’t drilling. That way, you are safe from his spinning shell. You can run out of room really fast with that shall spinning, and you don’t want that to happen, believe me. After three hits, he goes down.
This world is one I hated the most. You have to do all of it while a deadly fish tries to get you. You can jump on its head, or knock it out with fire Flower power, but it will always come back.
You will find that the First Star Coin is located in the midst of an arch. You should take out the fish if you are trying to get it. Once he is gone, go get it, and then jump from wall to wall in order to get back up again.
The Second Star Coin is also located in plain sight, and you will need to probably take out that nasty fish before you get it. Just go off of the ledge, grab it when the water goes down, and then take off.
As for the Third Star Coin, it is harder to find. As you go throughout the level, you will approach a place where 4 large ? blocks float. If you go in between them and swim up as the water rises, you will hit an invisible brick. This will allow you to create a beanstalk that will lead to a higher level. You can then grab a propeller block and you will see the Star Coin as you go to the right. Eventually, you will come to a Red Flag.
This is just one of the ways of leaving the level. This will give you open access to a path leading straight to the Castle.
The other way is just playing the level out, and you will make it.
I never did like levels with rafts, and this one I also didn’t like. As you come in, you can take a trampoline from this section, and lay it on your raft. This will come in handy for reaching a lot of hard to reach areas.
For example, there is a POW that you can grab, and throwing it down before the First Star Coin will cause it to fall on you.
As you go through the deadly plants, you will see a ? block, and it has a Star of Invulnerablity. Do not hestitate to use it in your travels.
You will have to “go ashore” to get to the halfway point, and you will find the Second Star Coin just after it. Use that trampoline that I asked you to get earlier to obtain it.
On the ceiling, there is a P-Block that you can hit which will give you scads of coins. This will start off a chain of coins, and you can get them.
You will eventually see a propeller brick, and then the Third Star Coin. You will eventually see an entrance to a cave above where the propeller brick can be used. You can grab the coin.
Now, there are two ways out of here. One of them will lead to a secret warp cannon. It happens when you approach these Fire Brothers guys, and you will see a red pipe in between them. Take them out and go into the red pipe.
From there, you will find a shaft with some light cubes. You will have to avoid some bats, but you will eventually find a way out, and a secret flag. This will give you a Warp Cannon to World 8.
Of course, you can always avoid that aforementioned red pipe and go all the way to the end of the proper end of the level, which will bring you a path to the World 6 Castle. That, or you can take the shortcut to the castle discussed in World 6-5.
This First Star Coin is pretty tricky to get, and you really only have one chance. It is really all about taking the tilting things high, and using three bricks attached to get to a higher level with a lot of Dry Bones. You can freeze one of the Dry Bones and use it to take out the others. It is tough to get back up there if you miss. I found that if I missed the three blocks, I had to freeze a Dry Bones, then use it as a stepping stool to get up there.
You will find the Second Star Coin located on a tilting platform. ‘With some difficulty, you can hop on the ? blocks to get to it. Man, it is tough.
As for the Third Star Coin, it is located on the last swinging platform. You will have to go to the apex of it in order to reach it, though.
When you get to the big door, you might think you are getting gypped by the ? box with no bonus. Jump on top of this ? block, and you’ll find an invisible one with a bonus. Use it well.
As for defeating Morton Koopa Jr, I found it quite simple. He attacks by causing two platforms to rise in front and behind him. If you wait until the pillars come down, you can jump atop them, and jump on him. Avoid his spinning shell as usual, and then you will have him after three hits.
Don’t get caught in the columns as he’s spinning his shell. You’ll have to wall jump to stay aloft, and that isn’t easy.
I’ve heard that 5 hits to him will be as a hit. Anyone want to confirm or deny that one?
World 6 Airship
You will see the First Star Coin in back of some boxes. Go ahead and ground pound them all. You will be able to access the coin easily.
Boxes will also surround a green pipe. Go ahead and ground pound the ones atop the pipe and take the pipe down. You will now be under the ship, jumping from wheel to wheel. Eventually, you will find the Second Star Coin on your travels. You can then go back up the pipe.
The Third Star Coin is also blocked by boxes, and a good ground pound will take care of it.
The final challenge with Bowser Jr. really sucked, as I just don’t like the sideways motion control in order to try and bash Junior into the electrified wall three times to kill him. It is doable, though.
