    What is your Monopoly strategy?

I'm just kind of curious. I like to gather the cheap group of three lands (can't remember the name), mortage everything to buy houses, and hope they land on one of my places. What about you??

I buy anything and everything I can afford.  I think the cheapies are Baltic, Mediterranian and one more, can't remember. It's a great game that rewards you for owning property--love it.  Have you played the computer version?  It's fun, don't need anyone else to play.

I gather as much as I can in the 1st half of the board. Beyond that I try to take one of each group (to prevent other monopolies). I will usually auction off any 2nd or 3rd I land on in the grouping of the more expensive properties to extract more money for the properties from players, or if I have spare cash I may buy them and trade for something on the cheaper half of the board. Then I quckly build to at least 3 houses per monopoly (mortgaging others if necessary).Beyond that I prefer to stay away from the utilites, using them for little more than trade value. I also have the tendancy of using up all the houses and only building when I can re-use the houses on other properties preventing anyone else from building.
I know it sounds like a lot, but my family and I play Monopoly pretty frequently, and I don't lose very often.

My strategy is to be ruthless and to buy everything I hit. Even if I have to mortgage something I generally buy everything I land on that is unowned and I put as much money as I can into houses and hotels. I may have to mortgage a few things to pay a rental fee but that, and more, quickly comes back.

I like getting either the light blues, oranges, and reds or getting the yellows, purples, and greens.

Yeah, similar to most of the other strategies here, I like to buy more or less everything I land on, and then go for a shrewd trading strategy a little bit later.  If you can snag Boardwalk or Park place, you more or less have a free trade for any other property (or properties) on the board.  Any true monopoly strategist knows that owning BW and PP isn't a guaranteed victory.  But to sum it up, doing good property trades is the best way to win.

It depends on how I start off, but I try to get the easy monopolies.  The little money will build up quickly.

I always try buying the railroads and green/orange ones first. And I am always the banker playing Monopoly so I don't miss anything!
