I have both. I somewhat prefer my PS3; mostly because I prefer the controller, but also because I can rely on my PS3 not to spontaneously explode every other month.

      I've gone through 5 Xboxes.

But that's Ok! My brother has a 360, and my hunny has both a 360 and a ps3 (and his mom has a wii). I get to enjoy the best of everything.

you know its tough.. I don't know which one is exactly better.. They both have their strong points.. XBOX 360 had PS3 for a while.. BUt the PS# has caught so much momentum these days.. Plus the games for PS3 are finally arrivig.. Uncharted 2 one game of the year it is just about a perfect 10 game. I think after 2010 we will see which one is the clear HD conosle. Can't count the Wii as a Hi Def system even tho that thing is cool too.  What do you think Double_frick

Just bought a unit, like two weeks back. Anyway, I'm becoming a gamer all over again. I was an addict for PS1 in the 90s, skipped out on PS2 because of work. But now...I just finished Prince of Persia and will start on Dragon Age.

Btw, I also plan to use it for playing DVD and Blu-ray movies but I'm not sure what regions/regional codes it supports. The unit's Japanese and I think the term they use is "Asian Version". Does anybody know? Thanks in advance! cool

      -Any PS3 Games
-Any Region A Bluray (America and Japan are both region A). Here's a link to the BluRay Region Map
-Any Region 2 DVD. (Japan is region 2. North America is region 1) Here's a link to the Region Map
-Japanese (Asian) PS2 games only (If you have a BC capable PS3 unit)
      -Japanese (Asian) PS1 games only

I have a ps3 and it is sick nasty. There is really no comparison on the market as far as compatibility and functionality. I have an older one, so all my ps2 titles work fine(kinda stinks they don't work on ps3 slims though). But, since so many great ps3 games have come out, my ps2 titles have become as rarely used as my x box.

My PS3 has stopped reading discs, and it's only just gone over the one year warranty. Sony told me to pound sand or hand over $160 to have a look at it. Repairs would cost more depending on what failed.

Looking over the internet, this appears to be an ongoing concern with many, yet Sony claims there is nothing wrong with their blu-ray readers.

After looking around at forums and other sites, it appears most are not going to Sony for repairs but are either swapping out the readers themselves or getting someone else to do it. The failure rates are huge.

It's no wonder Sony doesn't think there is a problem. The 1-2% fail rate they claim is only a result of those who actually ponied up the big bucks and sent the unit to them for repair. The rest are telling Sony to pound sand.

I have a playstation 3, Has different features than the xbox 360. Depending on what you like. The advantage for microsoft was bringing it out earlier, yes it had problems but they helped fix that problem by extending the warrenty for it to get fixed for free. Bringing it out 1 year later got them a head start on the video game industry. If they brought out the xbox 360 at same time as PS3, They would not have sold as many consoles as they did now. IMO.

Let me sum up this round of the video game wars: Wii won the younger and older crowds because it was simple to use, even though it had poorer graphics than the Xbox 360 or PS3. Xbox 360 actually had better graphics than PS3 for most games that were available on both consoles... at first. The problem was that PS3 was difficult to program for, so developers were devoting more time to the Xbox 360 games. That has now changed. Developers are coming out with games for PS3 that have much better graphics than Xbox 360. Games like the upcoming Gran Turismo 5, which has been in production for over 4 years, have absolutely stunning graphics.

So who wins in the end? It's hard to say. Wii has pretty much fallen off the map as Microsoft and Sony have come out with more innovative controllers for their systems and true gamers have started to flock to those systems. Unlike previous console generations, this one will last more than 5 years, so I think PS3 will win in the end just because it can do so much more than Xbox 360. Also, it's a BluRay player, and BluRay beat HD-DVD (which Microsoft was backing) in that format war. Just another reason to buy a PS3 over an Xbox 360. And I say that as someone who chose Xbox 360 two years ago.

I think that PS3 is best for online gaming, because you don't pay like you do for live, 360 has the best game titles, and Wii is more a "party" console- you play it when you want to have a good time with your friends.
