That all depends on you current physical condition. For some, weight loss will reduce the potential risk of many diseases. For others, proper methods of weight loss will increase metabolism and give you more energy to get through your day. Weight loss can also provide a confidence boost. If you look better, you feel better about yourself, thus providing a more positive outlook on life.
Conversely, weight loss is not for everyone. Losing weight when it's not necessary, can be dangerous to some individuals.

It might be a question, better phrased? e.g. It is assumed you mean in people? Age groups and global demographics? Are you asking it of 925 million who were hungry in 2010? Or the 1.5 billion obese? Or, is there a benefit for the remainder?

I can only answer for myself. Yes, I found a benefit from my personal weight loss; thanks! My benefits? Lower blood pressure and bad cholesterol levels, combined with an increase in energy and good cholesterol levels. ..... Oh and getting back into some clothing, stored for "when I lose some weight". Also finding myself able to buy smaller size of clothes; that others cannot fit into.

Mostly, the benefits are what one might expect.

Weight loss as a remedy to problems can be beneficial, but as an end unto itself, losing weight could cause more problems. Better to focus on actions that can, as a side effect, lead to weight loss, including improving nutritional habits, engaging in increased physical activity, and changing one's overall health regimen for the better.

It has loads of benefits mostly for health issues. Not only does it affect appearance - it also affects our whole physical condition. Weight loss prevents us from serious health conditions such as hypothermia and type2 diabetes.

The benefit of maintaining normal weight for the body size is because obesity and in particular abdominal fat increases metabolic syndrome.   Metabolic syndrome is a pre-clinical stage of diabetes and if not watched it can lead to high-blood sugar.

High glucose (sugar) is the blood stream negatively affects almost all organs in the body (because the blood carries it everywhere).  Studies have linked an association with diabetes to the increased likelihood of coronary disease and dementia.

If you are over weight it would be in your best interest to get the excess weight off, the sooner the better. To lose weight to bring the body to its normal preset weight has many wonderful health benefits. If one is not over weight and is considering weight loss for whatever reason, that is not good. It would be like playing with fire, you could get your fingers burned, meaning causing illnesses that can not be fix or explain.

It reduces not only the risk of many diseases, but we feel good and gain back the  confidence to face our daily life...no more fatigue to fight, no more frustration about choosing what to wear, and we are more likely to positive side...

Being able to fit into your favourite pair skinny jeans (hey I'm a girl!)...

In all seriousness the benefits of weight loss are so vast. Everything from looking and feeling great about your body and the way you carry yourself, to a whole array of health benefits (reduced risk of diabetes, sleep disorders, strokes and heart attacks). Energy levels tend to be higher as do mortality rates.

Wow! I think we should reverse this question, "What is the benefit of not losing weight?"

There is no end to the benefits of weight loss if you are overweight. Being overweight affects your self-esteem which can have an impact on your entire life. It could make to withdraw socially, which causes you to lose out on a lot of potential fun and possible relationships in your life.

Then there are the health benefits. Being overweight puts added pressure on your bones and joints, so weight loss can relieve this pressure.

It also strains your heart and can lead to heart disease which could turn into a heart attack, which we all know can kill you.

Losing weight can also help prevent the onset of diabetes as overweight or obese people almost always get diabetes. Diabetes can lead to kidney failure and so many other health problems that it's scary.

So the benefits to weight loss are many, but only if you are overweight. If you're at your ideal weight or underweight then you should not worry about losing weight.

I think that the most important thing of being fit is that you can do, eat, wear what you want whenever you want. I know there are a lot of medical benefits of being fit. But, I am sure that you may not consider or think about them. All of these benefits such as protection from hypertension and Diabetes type II, are interiors. And, every one loves what his eyes sees.
