You bet!  It is proven by many medical reports and sports authorities.  It also builds muscle, makes bones stronger, helps your heart, increases your metabolism, etc.  Just by simple keeping a regular walking routine.  With such a healthy attitude, you will add years to your life.  Great thoughts, Cclitgirl.

Yes indeed; it helps you live longer and it also improves  your cognitive ability. Read Brain Rules by Dr. John Medina and The Blue Zones by Dan Buettner. In Dan's book make sure you cover the Power of 9. I have included the links (URL) so you can learn more...

Yes walking keeps you fit. It is not as strenuous as running and better than doing nothing

yes, but it's not my favorite choice of exercise. Breathing helps you live longer too.

Yes, it sure does!  It is better for women (according to what I've read) than jogging, as jogging may cause harm to internal organs of women.  That is just something I've read.  Walking is best all around and you do not have to get all the appropriate attire to wear to a gym.  Just talk a walk in the park or around your neighborhood.

Yes it does! It is actually a "Fun" exercise that you feel a sense of accomplishment without serious strain. When you make a goal to walk somewhere and back, it feels like an adventure in which you are exercising while achieving your goal.
