It is that uncomfortable feeling when I can't get into my pair of favourite jeans. I just want to wear my jeans without trouble getting into them. I know I need exercise when it gets to this point. Also when I look at my photos and I look so fat. The thing is I am not consistent doing my exercises. I tend to start and then stop. I should do exercises everyday but I don't. I do try.

      liesl5858,
At least you try! That is the most important thing when it comes to exercise because if you give it a chance you'll be finished for the day before you know it.
      Thank you,
      Lisa

My husband! He has quite the "appetite", so I try to stay in great shape in order to keep up. wink Also, I just really enjoy being healthy.

      Daniella,
It's amazing how motivating a husband can be when it comes to staying in shape. My husband has always played sports and is in great shape so it just seems natural to stay fit around our house.
      Thanks,
      Lisa

Pretty simple, I got tired of being a fat @#$% and decided to do something about it.

      FatFreddysCat,
So does that mean you'll change your user name at some point?
      Thanks so much,

Boredom motivates me to exercise. I don't like being bored. I like to feel a sense of accomplishment and I like to change my routine. Another reason I am motivated to exercise is because of the control it gives me. I can change my body and give myself the ability to do things. Exercise causes my immune system to work better. So I make sure I keep exercising during the cold months.

Lots of things happen to me. Exercise makes me feel like I have more control of my life. It makes me feel good and it helps me look good. The people I know that don't exercise often seem bored, stressed and in a bad mood. I don't want to be the person that always complains that there is nothing to do when there are lots of things they could be doing.

      mikejhca,
It's true you really can't say you're bored when you haven't exercised for the day.
      Thanks,
      Lisa

Although it may seem to not directly address your question I believe it indeed does. Thus my solution is, playing recreational ice hockey; I enjoy playing so much i would prefer to play daily instead of once a week if I indeed could. Therefore one could say my love for this game motivates me to play it and this constitutes completing highly aerobic exercise not unlike cross-fit training...

      connorj,
Ice hockey has got to be one of the best ways to exercise. I didn't realize how often the Red Wings switched players during the games.
      Enjoy the ice,
      Lisa

Thanks, Lisa and the Red Wings are this guy's favorite NHL franchise. When I was comatose back in 03 their coach, Scotty Bowman kept in touch and the organization sent pictures to jog my memory after awakening...

The same thing that motivates everyone else; sex. It can be traced to the ancient times. Primitive men lived in packs, and women relied on men for taking care of them, so they preferred the fittest of men to be their partners; survival of the fittest and all. And men had to compete for that so their bloodline would continue.
And women too wanted to be desirable so they took care of their bodies. Abundance of fat in certain places was, apparently, the sign of better odds at carrying a baby. That explains the obsession of today's men with big booties.
In short, fitness was not a feel good thing, it was for survival.
Boxers are told to abstain from sex. Not because it weakens them physically, but because it satisfies them mentally. And once you are satisfied, you lose the strong urge to win as you have already won.

Control is what motivates me to exercise, to control the body, having the will power to push through a really intense workout.  The thought that you can change your health (asthma, heart disease, obesity, depression etc.) and encourage other to change their health as well.  Exercise  also gives a terrific sense of accomplishment when it is all said and done.

    I exercise because...

1.) I feel amazing after I've worked out... even if I only have time for a 30 minute run, the endorphins last all day!

2.) Running helps me decompress from any stress in my life.  I get out there and sweat away my problems.

3.) Right now my life feels really out of control, so when I work out I am in complete control of my breathing, my body, and my level of effort... and that feels really good.

4.) Staying active stimulates my appetite and I'm more likely to eat healthy since I keep statistics about my calorie burn each time I run.

5.) I'm a terrible insomniac, but I find the more I work out, the better I sleep.

    Good luck finding your motivation!
