Teach Our Children That Exercise is Fun

Healthy Child is an Active Child

Fitness for children of today is much different than when we were a child or our parents were children. Many schools have cut back on physical education programs due to school budgets. More and more children have become sedentary. They have become more involved with video games, TV and computers.

Obesity is at an all time high. We have all heard the stories of children with high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease. Maybe you know someone’s child like this or even your own.

Another Walking Exerciser

Great way to get fit.

Teaching your child to be fit

Teaching your children the importance of fitness and proper nutrition is vital to maintaining health. Get your child to move around more. Limit time sitting in front of the computer or watching TV. Plan some family fitness nights.

Congratulations to all of you if you have an active child. A child or children who is involved in sports and other activities. But those who need a little help going in the right direction, there are plenty of fitness books such as yoga for toddlers and children, karate for kids, books on walking and running, exercises, strength training and fitness ideas.

Exercise Equipment for Children

Teach your child that exercise can be fun right from the beginning. Small children love to play grown up. If you have exercise equipment such as an air walker, your little one would like one of their own to feel like a grown up. A Kid's Air Walker keeps children moving offering an activity based recreation and promotes a healthy lifestyle while having fun. Establishing a fitness routine early in life will help prevent current and future weight problems.

Kid's Treadmill is self propelled, manual operation for safety and promotes a healthy lifestyle for kids. Sturdy frame is made of powder coated steel. It comes with an odometer with time, speed, distance and calories. The treadmill meets CPSIA requirements and standards. The manual propelled treadmill belt provides a low impact workout and is kid safe. Your child will get a kick out of walking side by side with you on your own treadmill.

It's a real shame kids don't have much active play outside anymore. Councils in the UK are trying to do something - many of the sports centres are introducing fun sports programs for children, and swimming sessions are all free for children. Some really great info on your hub, I think many parents need more info like this.

So true. Developing good eating and exercise habits as a child helps ensure success as an adult. As they say, it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks. I also think parents need to be aware of the model they are for their children. If your spare time is spent in front of the TV, that's a strong message too.

Thanks Sandy. I enjoyed this Hub and learnt a few things. Obesity is on the increase but I don't blame the kids.

Sometimes it's the additives/chemicalsin the food that make them blow up. So, Fitness should help them stay within their size. Great Hub. :)

I recently noticed that children are no longer playing outside as my generation and my sons did. Since I have no children at home it was not until I read an article that I had even noticed. This is horrid, but with child abduction fears and those one eyed monsters in the home, all aid in keeping children inside. This is sad and not healthy, children need to run, play, ride bikes and interact with others their age instead of hovering over dimmly lit screens killing imaginary enemies. This hub was a real eye opener.

Great tips for kids as we change our lifestyles and live more and more in apartment style housing without yards and towns to run around to play in. It makes me realize that we are also changing our approach to fitness and children. Thanks for the reminder and great hub!

Darlene, they do have it to a point in school. But many of the programs have been cut, at least where I live. I have heard and read that this is the case all over.
