The Best type of Fish to eat.
I was reading an article recently about a man who only ate fish and ended up having a lot of Mercury in his system. He thought he was eating healthily by avoiding meat.
What’s the best type of fish to eat and which ones should we avoid?
That is a tough one since even very strict vegans have been known to have high levels of Mercury.
There are actually a good number to choose from that are considered low in Mercury. Cod, Halibut, Tuna, Salmon (wild is best), Trout, Catfish, and King Crab just to name a few. Orange Roughy was a favorite of mine till I read that it was high in Mercury.
Not sure about the mercury issue, but I totally dig blackened salmon on a ceasar salad, almost anywhere in downtown Seattle. Halibut is a close second.
My short answer is.....raw fish.
Living in Colorado, I 'd say eat trout.
Actually, If you're worried about consuming environmental contaminants like mercury and PCB's, smaller fish like sardines acquire less in their systems than larger game fish like swordfish. If you're pregnant, or plan to be and want the omega 3's of fish without the risks, try adding MILA to your diet. You can learn more about MILA's health benefits at www.lifemax.net/stefanp
I believe Maui Maui is known for being really healthy but I personally love Tilapia.
