What are your thoughts on the death penalty? Do you believe that it should be abolish everywhere?
I am for the death penalty for 100% DNA proved guilt. We have our cells too crowded already with illegals so then we set murderers loose? Maybe they will think twice. They will have more time their victims certainly.
My thoughts are that every state should have an express lane.
If you are a child molester, rapist, or murderer you should go directly to death. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.
If you are a repeat offender (3 strike rule) there should be a no wait line right to the chair.
I believe that if there were more severe consiquences that the crime rate would drop off.
Can you imagine how much money we would save (as a nation) were we not forced to house millions of prisoners indefinately???
I do think the death penalty should be abolished. I just think killing is morally wrong no matter the reason. I do not want the government killing in my name. Life in prison is not an easy sentence and is an appropriate alternative to the death penalty. It gives a person a good long time to ponder their actions, and their fate.
No, I do not. There is too much room for error in our present criminal justice system. I think criminals who are guilty will suffer much more by spending several years in prison than being executed.
I hate the death penalty, but then I also hate the criminals that did something so incredibly horrible that they deserve it. All in all, we are hypocrites for murdering the murderer. Keep um' locked up. They definitely deserve to rot in prison over having to die a fate decided by a collection of people. I know that the over populated prisons would disagree and who wants to keep feeding someone that got caught doing the unthinkable? Most times I'm sure the death penalty was deserved, but then think...what if they were innocent?
USA is one of the the very few "first world" countries that still have a death penalty. All I know is that in NY there is no death penalty. So this one NY killer who has killed several people - including a couple of prison guards while incarcerated - should be put to death.
The guy is locked up like Hannibal Lector - plastic encased and all. I think if it's a serial killer such as Charles Manson in CA - yeah - put that type of criminal to death - but not for a single murder because the system is far from perfect. Most of those exnorated are black which shows the prejudical nature of the (in)justice system.
Currently there is a DNA program for prisoners to exonorate them from the crimes charged and sentenced for murder (takes about a decade or so to get to the actual excecution) the number is in the several hundreds so far.........

What are your views on the death penalty? While I do believe that some people should be put to death, the risk of sending an innocent person to death is too great. I think either the requirements for the death penalty should be higher or is should be banned. What do you think?

Is the death penalty a way to stop crimes or is it an easy way out for the criminals?
