    Absolutely necessary trace nutrients. Think of them as what keeps the body's vitality. Most people have some sort of vitamin deficiency and though supplements may help, the best vitamins are those naturally found in fruits, vegetables, and meats, such as free range chicken and wild caught fish. Of course there's the most neglected sunshine vitamin, vitamin D is absolutely essential for immune system function.

    Certain substances in foods of different kinds which have important effects on our bodily health. The word vitamin comes from the Latin word for life. Six distinct varieties of vitamins are known; and to distinguish them they are given the letters A, B, C, D, E... and there are more. It is now recognized that a deficiency of vitamins A and B makes people more liable to catch infectious diseases; that lack of vitamin C causes scurvy ; and that a want of vitamin D produces the ailment called rickets, from which children were known to suffer.
