Are there any exercises that people can do for their eyes that actually work?
Cats have perfect vision, but I've read some exercises that could actually cure astigmatism for humans and probably improve vision when practiced enough:
- roll your eyes in a circular motion for a few minutes every day
- write something on a piece of paper, step a few feet away and read it. Each day, increase the distance between you and the paper
- close your eyes and lean your head sideways, about 20 seconds each side including upwards and downwards
- close your eyes for a minute or two every 60 minutes you're on the computer. this helps reduce eye strain
Pencil push-up tests do help the eyes converge and accommodate better. This exercise is recommended for children and young adults that have difficulty reading for prolonged periods of time. If you suffer from eyestrain or headaches after reading, this may be an exercise you should try:
Bring a pencil toward your nose and try to keep the image of the tip single and clear. Practice 5-10 times a day and try to bring the pencil closer and closer to your eyes. The goal is to reach the pencil tip to the bridge of your nose without seeing double.
