What do you need to be happy?

Are there universal things that all humans need to be happy? Or are the things that make people happy unique to each individual?

To be happy for me I need to have money, good job, my love and my family.

I've had ALL that vizier mentioned. But, None of that matters without piece of mind. To be truly happy, I would choose piece of mind.

Being happy is a state of mind,

Some people may be happy in a plane crash as it excites them, and is something different. Other people will become mad and stressed.  There are universal basic human needs. However there is not universal way for someone to become happy it varies by person.

I'll give a more technical answer to this as I researched it for a decade and am writing a book on it. In some ways happiness is unique to each person in terms of enjoyment of certain things, however generally happiness can be raised by doing regular exercise, laughing a lot, having time out and using positive thoughts. A guy called robert holden did a program on it during the 1990s and the results showed a massive increase in happiness.

The entire thing is on youtube if you're interested.
