Do you think being happy is a way of life, or something that just happens to us from time to time?

I think we make a decision sometimes, other times we are in the right relationship or set of circumstances that make it happen. What do you think?

Happiness is life lived in acceptance. I agree with your point that we do not have the luxury to take decisions all the time. The decisions made under difficult circumstances reach to a place inside of us which was unknown before that moment. Then, there are decisions made in peace.
I also support the idea that happiness happen to us from time to time. My point is that it happens because you showed it the way.
I'm feeling good to have stumbled across the question. Thank you.

I think that you choose to be happy. Even when things aren't going the way you want them to, your attitude about it is what counts. Having everything just right helps alot, but even when the chips are down you can choose to not let it get you down. (sometimes it's tough though!!) So, I think it's a way of life.....

I think being happy is a way of life.  You need to work at it.  If you don't work at maintaining your body and mind you are going to be unhealthy.  If you don't work at being happy you are going to be depressed.  Luck can be involved but people make their own luck.  They make choices and take actions that get them into the circumstances.  You can't win if you don't play.  Lucky people seek out new opportunities.  Unlucky people don't bother looking.
