Do you think you have control of your destiny today?

If you think so, please explain how so. (Example: Happiness is a tough thing to bring about in ones life for some folks struggling today, but is our destiny truly determined by such an invisible force, just think about it and try to answer this question as best you see fit, maybe write a hub about it)

Yes, I have control of my destiny everyday. I can make a decision right now which will change what happens next. For me, it's all about having a slightly longer term view, goal or objective and then taking actions right now that somehow move me towards it.

I'm not  a big believe in the whims of fate or destiny; I do think intuition plays a part and often act according to what 'feels' right, but that needs to be supported by actually taking action to move us towards where we want to be.

no one has control of destiny, but if you want you can make your self happy in any condition. Be motivated, think positive, always smile.

    Hi Mike,

What a thought provoking question...I believe that, while we may not have total control of our destiny, we have an absolute control over reaction and rebound.
A general example is my sister who was diagnosed with diabetes, which is hereditary in our family...She owned it, embracing a healthy lifestyle with good nutrition and exercise and follows the medication, glucometer checks and is doing great.

I am not sure if I have control over it, but I do my best to guide myself to where I want to go.  I refuse to believe otherwise.  I will do whatever moves me towards my goals on a daily basis, regardless of what my daily Zodiac prediction is.

Today, at this very moment, I have control over my destiny because I am consciously relating my thoughts to my actions and, I'd like to think, without any help from an invisible Being/God/Omnipotent Whatever! What my brain creates my hands turn into words, via this laptop. I want to do this. I make it happen. I am content.
But the word destiny has many layers to it, a bit like an onion; and yes, it can make you cry if you don't control the unpeeling. If treated properly however, cooked with the right ingredients in the right oil, destiny can be very tasty and nutritious.

My destiny is my future and my future is made up of tiny tiny seconds that merge into minutes, hours and weeks and so on, into years. At this very edge of NOW I still retain control but cannot say absolutely that this will be the case in five minutes or five years time, for that is a carte blanche, yet to be filled.

I don't know of any unseen force that is in control of my destiny. The ancient Greeks believed in the Fates, and the Gods, and asked questions about the future of the Oracle; this was part of their culture and you could be punished for going against your destiny, what the Gods had planned for you.

Astrology has an appeal for some and in medieval times was used extensively to forecast destinies, both individual and collective. It's a beautiful concept, a romantic ideal. In India I think it still holds sway for certain sections of society. I don't want my destiny to be written in the stars as that could undermine my will and I'd view that as pretty serious!

For me, destiny is an integral part of my psychology, what I am as a person, and in my experience I am in control of that person - for most of the time! Yet, the future will conjure up all sorts of different challenges, events and unknowns for all of us. Some will see certain happenings as 'destiny' others as random accidents or just plain old bad luck.
