What experience did you have in 2012 that made you a stronger person, and did you write about it?

I met my wife on May 18th last year, by August we were engaged and we got married in December. It may have moved quickly but she's someone that I can always count on and talk to. Just being with her can inspire me to strive to my fullest potential. Granted, I might be biased because I do love her, lol.

And no I didn't write about it. She did on her blog though. http://www.afwife.com

no spoilers please, she doesn't want me to read it, it's her thing, this is mine.

In may of 2012 I noticed I was falling more than usual. Five years prior I had a spine fusion almost up to my skull.
I went to the ER and was admitted to the hospital.
The diagnosis was devastating. My skull had fallen and pressing on the brainstem.
With out surgery I would only have months to live.
It was a very sad moment for me and my family.
But I had to have the operation.
And I did write about it.

Being faced with death made me realize I'd rather have surgery and risk paralysis rather than die.
It was a miracle that I woke up. With tears of joy and triumph.
What a beautiful feeling in spite of pain I have npw

Indeed it's a very different way of life. But I know in the end I did the correct thing. Although hearing the news was very devastating but waking up was wonderful.

My experience for 2012 that made me stronger was the birth of my daughter Marissa. Like my son who was born in 2009 she came one month too early. But both kids are fortunately healthy as you can see on the pictures on two of my hubs. I haven't written about this before.
