Have you ever had Reiki done?
If you did, did was it by a friend, a certified practitioner, or a nurse - say in a hospital setting?
Yes, I have had Reiki done. I received it from a friend, and then received attunement and am a practicing Reiki Master (though I do it for free, not as a business). The original Reiki Master (Master Usui in Japan, about 100 years ago) was able to deliver healing energy to perform healing that we now do through surgery. (One documented case was acute appendicitis. The woman recovered fully and became the first Reiki Master in America.)
These days, most Reiki healing operates at a much lower level, simply providing comfort, ease, and support during illness or for surgical healing. I am trying to reproduce the abilities Master Usui had. I do this because my wife, myself, and my cat all have untreatable illnesses. So far, we're making progress. (I won't go into the personal details, except for my cat.)
My cat developed cancer, and the doctors missed it. They discovered it this week, and there was nothing to be done. We've been using Reiki and other healing energy (qigong), exclusively, and the cat (Bandera is her name) has already responded well. She has stopped vomiting and is holding her food. I was able to eliminate her fever in one healing session. She is holding steady, and we have an appointment with a holistic vet tomorrow or Monday.
Prayers are most welcome!
My father in law is in an elder care facility, and one of the nurses, a man named Eddie, gives the patients Reiki. There is a Western tradition that is almost identical called Therapeutic Touch. Some hospitals are open to such approaches. In others, loving caregivers offer them silently and, if needed, secretly.
That's excellent progress with your cat - I've heard that cats are sometimes hard to work on. I'm glad that it has helped you and your wife. I have a chronic illness too and am able to help myself but not when in pain. I love practicing it on others.
No I have not. I do healing hands. Reiki and I did not connect so I took another route.
It's true that not every modality is right for everyone. It can be frustrating to try them until you find the right one that works for you. Healing hands is very cool! Are you a practitioner or do you find it helps with your health?
Yes, I have. My husband is a certified practitioner and he offers his services for free to those that are open to receive.
In a round about manner. I worked for a therapist who was also a certified practitioner of Reiki. I am a sceptic. But...She came up behind me and touched my shoulder and there was this energy flow, like a tingle but not unpleasant. It was the strangest thing and I was so stunned by what I felt.
I had been complaining of my neck and shoulders aching. I didn't know she was going to do it, so I had no preconceived ideas...she simply touched me without my knowing she was going to do it and I could feel the energy.
Yes, I had several sessions of it a number of years ago. My massage therapist belonged to a group that had Reiki sessions one night each week and as long as you participated by helping the other people in the group, it was totally free. I thought it was helpful, but certainly was not able to cure my many serious health problems.
Reiki works by slowing the nervous system down, quieting the "fight or flight" system we operate in during modern life, allowing for the "healing" part of your system to work. I would never promise cure, only relaxation so your body can do it's best.
My husband and I are both Reiki masters.
When my then very skeptical husband was recovering from major surgery, a bunch of Reiki masters (long story) stood around him and gave him a session. He was convinced they had levitated him and he was buzzing from the energy for ages afterwards. I was standing at a distance, not watching, trying not to laugh because I knew how he thought the effort would be useless.
I can't tell you exactly what healed him because we tried lots of things, but his total recovery shocked his specialists. We became Reiki students after that and were surprised often enough by the positive results on people and animals (including horses) to follow through to master level.
Yes, I have and I love it. Years ago I was in a car accident and they sent me to a certified practitioner. Our husbands worked together so we already knew each other. I liked how she would have me sit in the hot tub for about 15 minutes before she started working on me.
You were out of the hot tub and dressed again before she started the Reiki though, weren't you velvet53 ?? Otherwise it sounds as though it was different to traditional Reiki.
Oops, it does sound wrong. No I was out and dressed before she did any Reiki. Sorry about that.
lol. I thought so. At least I hoped so! I wouldn't want people who are not familiar with Reiki to think they have to take their clothes off. Sounded for a minute like you were getting a massage, not Reiki. Thanks for clearing that up.
Once you brought it to my attention I had to laugh at the way I worded everything. Nope, it definitely wasn't a massage Have you ever had someone use crystals on you?
Not on me, but yes we have had some experience with crystal therapy as well. I have a great collection of crystals from around the world. I can't identify exactly what healed my husband because we tried many things. Crystal therapy was one of them.
Yes, I have received and given Reiki treatments. It helped my painful headaches and relieved sinus congestion immediately. I am thankful that we can help one another with this wonderful and simple technique.
I have had Reiki performed on me several times. I am also trained in Reiki 1, so I love the feeling of performing Reiki on others as well. It is wonderful to channel healing and goodness to another individual. I love the technique and regret not continuing on with it.

Let's network a little bit, are there any reiki practitioners here on forums? How long do you practice Reiki? What degree are you? And did Reiki changed your life somehow?
