The latest study suggests strongly that it was just extreme unluckiness that the novel coronavirus became a pandemic.
What they found:
1. The virus most likely first appeared in a human in October 2019
2. In October, November, and early December, it was localized to a few dozen humans and had a very good chance of going extinct, as many viruses do
3. While deadly, if it had been more deadly like the SARs of 2004, it also might have gone extinct
4. The viruses lucky break (or humanities unluck) was when one or more of the infected humans attended the packed Hunan seafood market which allowed the virus to break free. (It should be noted that the same thing would have happened if those infected people attended spring break in Miami)
5. Once released to the masses, there was no stopping it from going worldwide.

Countries who reacted quickly and didn't politicize the pandemic, fared relatively well, including China. Countries who did make it about politics and "not looking bad" did very poorly; America leads the pack in that group.
It would not be surprising that America's resistance to wearing masks, social distancing, and not taking the vaccine will keep the pandemic going well into the future. I would not blame the rest of the world for isolating America and cutting off all travel to unvaccinated Americans.
For countries with a free press, where information can be shared openly, the US has one of the lowest mortality rates. I'd say your claim is bogus.
If you accept statistics and information from communist and totalitarian regimes....that's on you.
Even if you use Mortality as a measure, you are wrong. You have to add in hospitalizations as well as the as yet unknown impact of the long-haul syndrome.
Of nations of comparable size, the US mortality rate of 1,670 per million is the worst. Ours is even worse than Brazils, which surprises me.
Of somewhat smaller democratic nations with a free press, only the UK and Italy is worse than America
Of smaller democratic nations with a free press, only Belgium is worse.
Of smaller Europeanish nations, some have questionable free press, only Slovenia, Hungary, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Bulgaria are worse.
So please, tell me how you come to the conclusion that "the US has one of the lowest mortality rates." when it clearly does not?
It is much worse when you consider cases per million. America is 8th and the ONLY country of any size at all that is worse is Czechia with 11 million people and Slovenia with 2 million people.
Maybe we are looking at different sites? I'm not in a partisan talking point site. I just look at the John's Hopkins University site.
I don't go to partisan sites and John Hopkins is one of their sources.
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries
I just looked at the Hopkins site and it shows almost exactly what I reported to you, except America is doing even worse - 6th worse instead of 12th worst that Worldometers shows us. Of course Hopkins doesn't count some of the smaller nations.
BTW, that is 12the worst out of 221 nations!! That means 209 other nations are doing better than Trump has America.

Says, the guardian fox to the hen house.
The smaller countries down the line has not experienced a severity of the covid19 pandemic. Therefore, their death toll, for example seem low. Besides, why the pandemic seems low in these countries that are not well advanced in orthodox health care industries has balfed the many enlighten.
