The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Monday granted the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine full approval in a highly anticipated move that’s expected to boost vaccinations and spark more mandates nationwide.
The vaccine will be marketed as Comirnaty, with the full authorization applying to vaccine recipients age 16 and older, the FDA announced in a release.
The FDA's emergency use authorization will remain in place at this time for those between the ages of 12 and 15. The emergency use authorization also still applies for a third dose for immunocompromised people.
"While this and other vaccines have met the FDA’s rigorous, scientific standards for emergency use authorization, as the first FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccine, the public can be very confident that this vaccine meets the high standards for safety, effectiveness, and manufacturing quality the FDA requires of an approved product,” she said

"Do you think this will put to rest most of the anti-covid vaccine rhetoric? Or there will be new excuses?"
No, and yes. It still hasn't been adequately "tested" (I understand from the anti-vaxxers that that takes 20 years), and we will still hear "You can't make put things in my body!" I don't expect much to change - the lack of approval was never more than an excuse, never a reason.
I agree. Maybe it would change some minds, people that were not sure or worried, but not from the anti-vaxxer group.
