    How to ask for time off work for a holiday during a busy time?

    When it's really busy at work but you want to take time off, how would you approach your boss?

    I never asked for time off for holidays, I always told the govener when I was taking my holiday entitlement.

    My work makes us submit our holiday dates a year in advance, otherwise we get what were given. They can be changed, but it is such a hassle to do so. I'd say, it depends on how much time off you need.... for example, there are some companies who simply don't allow time off at xmas because it is so busy, but could maybe allow for a day or two?
    I'd just ask, because if you don't ask, you don't get!
