I Will Find Me~Poem

I Will Find Me

Darkness comes before the light I see

Unwrapping blame to find forgiveness

New look, fresh start and perhaps bravery

Through it all, can I find me?

Shining light rays heal hurt that’s buried deep

Reclaiming scattered pieces of my heart

Mending segments back together is quite tiring

When the moment comes, how do I find me?

Knowing the spoken word, I do believe

Smiling as a ruffled tail bird sings

Children’s eyes hold the beauty of everything

I could have it all, if I could find me.

Small steps on sharp stones tear at gentle feet

Pick a star each night and admire all it has seen

Laughing heaps with friends makes lasting memories

If I get lost out there, where do I find me?

I know what I want but, only half of what I need

Sympathize with cosmos drying tears from the moon

Don’t step back they scream, time doesn’t stop

I crave unearthing the answers. When will I find me?

Leaving the past where it belongs, could it hold the key?

The rising sun gives me today, maybe the whole thing

Climb mountains low then high a goal I perceive

I wonder what I will see, when I find me?

That's beautiful. It certainly can be difficult finding yourself, especially after a heartreak.

Thank you Dream On. I didn't even realize I was loosing myself until one day I said to someone "I lost myself years ago." Then I was like, hey, I lost myself...I am still on the "gotta find me mission" ...your welcome and I wish you lots of luck.

It is amazing how we can find time for everyone else in our life but not ourselves. For years I never gave it a thought. Then some how we lose ourselves in ourselves and that is when we need your wonderful hub to bring the real me out.I will have to read it over a few hundred times just to finally let myself accept myself.Thanx so much.Have a wonderful day.

No problem. As my comment was getting a bit long I wrote a hub if you fancy a read (although it is pretty much just a longer version of the comment above)? I hope you don't mind that I mentioned your poem in it, if you do, tell me and I'll remove that part of it. Anyhoooo...it's called, 'Allow Yourself some Happiness and Find the True You'. Take care of YOU! X

WOW!!!! Thank you smzclark, I will try to think of that something and do it. You are right, the one thing that I and everyone who knows me knows, is that I am a "people pleaser" and tend to disregard me. Great advice! I have very often told myself these things and always telling others this. I wish that I could take my own advice! Hard thing to do, because I guess trusting someone enough to listen and take advice from them is not always easy especially when you don’t know that person yet, that person being me. It all makes perfect sense to me although I have to admit it will be really hard to do. Fortunately I like challenges :) Thanks again so much!!

Think of something you've always wanted to do but never got 'round to it, had the guts, or been 'selfish' enough to do and force yourself to do it if it's at all possible. I'm guessing that you're a very giving person and always tend to put yourself last...to be any good to anyone, YOU have to be okay and that means putting yourself first sometimes. Some people will go their whole lives without truly knowing themselves because they are always trying so hard to please everyone around them. Sometimes we have to stop, take a step back and realise that we are just as important as anyone else. If we are not content, our children will see it. I was a single parent for a long time suffering one obstacle after the next. Eventually It got bad enough that I had no choice but to put my daughter second after me. I realised that was the best way to actually put her first in the long term...if that makes sense at all?! I have loads to say on this subject, but don't want to bore you...

Thank you Vincent, I'm so grateful that you like it! I hope that WE both find ourselves somewhere in the middle of lifes highway. We must keep in mind that God will never give us more than we can handle and that through it all we are learning the things we were put here for in the first place...finding out who we are, why we're here and to learn something everyday. Blessings to you also. Keep moving forward and good luck finding U :)

I hope you find YOU and peace and contentment. I LOST myself years ago and never have found ME. I still struggle with ME yet I keep moving forward and life's twists and turns eventually lead me to a better place. Peace and blessings to you. Beautiful piece, the message was clear and precise, well done.

Thank you so much Poetic Fool, your comment truly means a lot to me! Yes we must allow ourselves to unwrap the blame in order to open up enough to find forgiveness and ask the forgiveness to come in. We can only naturally give what we possess internally :)

This poem speaks volumes and I'm sure many people will read it and relate. The second line hooked me:

    "Unwrapping blame to find forgiveness"

I've never heard it expressed this way but that is often just what forgiveness is, unwrapping blame. There's a lot of wisdom in those 5 words. The rest of your poem just got better. Thanks for sharing a little of your search to find yourself. Good luck! Voted up, awesome and interesting!

Thank you Gypsy Rose Lee!! No I think most of us don't. I thought for years that I knew myself, though now I question that too. I know that I don't right now. It's a bit scary but my goal is to find me and when I do, keep me : )
