Mother Courage And Urinetown

Updated on April 23, 2014

Mother Courage And Urinetown

Has humanity evolved?

Have we come that far,

From the three thousand,

And “Thirty Years’ War”?

Anna Fierling lives on,

Adding her sums,

As commerce drones on,

Beating its drums.

And now she pulls,

Her cart with ease,

Sans Eilif, Kattrin,

And, alas, Swiss Cheese.

Centuries more,

It still trickles down,

And we find ourselves,

In Urinetown.

Now Hope is lost.

Push comes to worst,

As most of the cast,

Die of thirst.

Strong with Soupy Sue,

Little Sally, and all see,

The unpromised land,

Where all pee free.

This brought such a large smile to my face! So clever and witty and great! Luckily I have seen the musical "Urinetown" and have a slight historic perspective here. Thank you for this. Jamie
